This is sad. Sorry to hear this stuff for any club as it can happen to any club. Crooks are crooks and eventually get caught.

very sad. It can happen at any club, especially the ones with only volunteers running it like FCSC. This is where clubs that don't have paid employees in critical positions to do this type of work and monitor this type of work. JF needs to retire and the BoD should of been suspicious after the second BoD meeting took place with no financials. But then again, you're working with people on the BoD that either don't really care and rarely show up or they don't know how a true BoD should work.

Yeah, like no one is ever going to detect transfers to you personal account.

If only one person is keeping track of the books on a regular basis, it's not hard to hide embezzlement from a cursory inspection. Dishonest treasurers have long been the bane of nonprofit organizations, especially small ones.

It's probably a good thing for parents--though not for the club--that this is coming out when it does. Parents won't be put in the position that finding out the fees they just paid have disappeared, and now there's no money to pay for coaches and tourneys and field rental so sorry--no more soccer this year. OTOH, this may do severe damage to the club--especially if they are forced to downsize in any significant fashion (letting experienced coaches go and hiring cheaper ones, not having access to good training facilities). I don't imagine they will go completely under--but they may spend a while as a third-tier club.

They have always been a third tier club. With the low numbers they have coming out this year, they could be a little strapped for a while.

Bret Jacobs. They'll do anything at WashT to recruit some real coaches and players into that club, except pay them or train them properly of course.

dude. That guy doesn't have the time to even worry about these types of things like embezzlement at FCSC or even when they are having tryouts. I'm sure he could care less.

He better take the time. The quality of soccer played at his club hasn't improved one bit and they're still losing players by the bucket loads. If he's fine with being a tier 2 or tier 3 feeder club to the real clubs, then more power to him I guess.
