He better cover it if he covers the boys. Otherwise we should file a suit for discrimination.

They don't even pay reserves for the Thorns - the only real $$ in girls soccer is:

      1. What title 9 created at colleges
      2. What parents pay to avail themselves of 1
      3. Every 4 years for USWNT

Probably not true. Thorns U16 might be better than CU ECNL16's.

The rules say the clubs are responsible for travel costs.

            You guys are beyond stupid.

Thorns U16, wasn't this the team that crushed the silver bracket at the Vegas Cup?

They picked up some thugball superstars from TA. They will be a good team until they run up against anyone who is fast and has good ball skills. So they'll do fine in Beaverton cup and OYSA and silver bracket of Vegas, and struggle in far west.

Which means that US Soccer isn't paying for it. Dear old mom and dad are.

Let us know how that works out for you. Hope you've got the cash to pay Merritt's legal bills.

US Soccer will pay for a few scholarships. That will cover the players training fees. It should bring the total cost for the scholarship player down to about $16,000-$17,000. As usual any parent travel is whatever the parents want to pay in addition.
Fundraisers and whatnot can help gain $$ to help pay for travel.

US Soccer is paying for refs only.

That's s lot of car washes to to fundraise $16,000 for 25 girls. Over $400,000!!

Timbers academy had 10 away weekends.
Those were at least two night stays with flights. There was at least one week-long trip.
If you figure those are a minimum of $1500 each, then you've got at least $15,000 just in travel costs. Since the MLS makes money and is sponsoring the boys Academy, parent's don't see that cost. There will not be the same sponsorship for travel costs for GDA.
So if the GDA is going to offer the same amount of competition, the parents will be on the hook for at least $15,000, more likely a higher figure.
That doesn't take into account the training fees, home games, etc... those costs are "baked in" no matter what level you're playing.
