    DOC coaching HS

Why would a club continue to pay full salary to a DOC when they are off coaching HS .
Once again junior teams getting screwed .
    Disclosure
My son is at Celtic FC our DOC coaches a senior team ( which I don't agree with ) and is off with his girls to coach HS this winter .

Because they just want him out the way, far from Scotland as possible.

If it bothers you so much why are you on an anonymous message board addressing it? Why not go tell the board? How about just leave the club all together.

A DOC doesn't coach, he directs coaches, develops curriculum, solves problems. He doesn't have to be there all the time? How are teams getting screwed?

BTW most likely the club knows and is perfectly fine with it.

DOC’s should never coach a team that’s not what they are employed to do .

Doc earns money to oversee the program. If he is receiving full time money and not a full time job, then Board should step in. If not receiving full time money, then he should be able to do whatever he wants as long as no direct conflict with program. And even that is in the eye of the beholder. If doc is making close to 6 figures and has another job, send out a job opening posting and you will be flooded with applications to choose from

No DOCs are making that kind of coin, especially outside of DA which is the majority of clubs. Not sure it would necessarily be a full time job either, but you would want him/her surveying practices regularly. That's where there might be a time conflict with coaching HS - but HS is also a limited season too. If the board is ok with it and the job they're doing so be it. If parents don't agree it's their right to complain; and parents will always complain even at well run clubs.

HS Coaches have HS practice after school 2:30 and 2-3 games a week at night. They can still coach their club teams and play their league matches on the weekends.
