The reason I ask is because non-profits need to file financial statements that the public can access. The claim was made the they offer many free scholarships. That would be a line item in the financials. I'm interested to see what percentage of their income goes to helping those that can't afford to pay.

That's a valid point. Transparency is important, and social responsibility is important to me as a consumer. Could you provide a link to the filings of the clubs you feel are exemplars? That would give us the comparative lens through which we can judge GPS.

They have received a U12 team for next year, so eventually they could gain full admittance (if they want it). GPS likes to be in full control (schedule games, fields, etc.), and with US Club they have a big seat at the decision-making table. With DAP, they will be taking orders like every other club, and even be at the kids table as a non-MLS academy.

GPS has no say in terms of a full DAP appointment. They won't be appointed.

The teams that were awarded the new U12's were all told they were not getting older teams. Until DAP splits out MLS and non-MLS the new clubs will be U12 only.
