Does anyone else question why some clubs get to do both while others do not? Granted some clubs know tyre too small and just can't handle it. But if a club feels confident and wants to, then who decides - ECNL? DA? Seems ripe for political nonsense

The clubs just need to apply, everyone is entitled to apply.

If US Soccer reviews your application and you meet all the qualifications you will be approved.

      Same goes for ECNL

If you meet all their criterias I would guess you get in and some clubs will get both as you can see PDA now has both.

Some clubs may continue to do both and I am sure some clubs may just do DAP and some may just carry on with ECNL.

ECNL will be different in two years but it will still be around.

There is enough talent for two leagues. The difference will be in the "path" that each league represents. DA should represent a more professional and college path while ECNL can represent a college path.

Both leagues can coexist, but ECNL will be forced to reimagine its mission statement a bit and find ways to reduce costs and travel.

This is for the parents of current ECNL girls getting ready for college offers.
Keep the money flowing and your dd will get a college offer.
          Smart business move.

There is a place for ECNL, just like there is a place for NPL on the boys side. Look at the 2016 commits list for boys. Just as many boys who played NPL and prep school soccer going on to play in college as boys from the Revs and Bolts DAP.

If you kid in the ECNL now. (U15 and up). The GDAP really shouldn't be on your radar screen. For kids that will be in or entering the prime recruiting years, ECNL will remain the hands down best platform for college exposure. This may very well change over time, but we are at least 24 months away from any sort of critical shift.

GDAP launches in a little over a year from now. They'll probably be modestly successful in attracting kids to the youngest age band. The 2002s and older who will all be 10th graders next fall would be out of their minds to leave the ECNL. Most kids have a 24 month window in 10th and 11th grade to work through the recruiting process. IF the GDAP is going to be successful, we're looking at 2019 or realistically 2020 before it has significant traction.

Wrong. Top schools will be telling their recruits to play GDAP the same way they were telling theme to play ECNL.

The older age groups will be more likely to switch early.

Honest question hoping for an informed answer. What if your daughter has a 2021 grad year? She is currently in the top half half of her ECNL roster at a club that will offer both dap and ecnl. What's the right path?

Another poster here. Strictly based on my discussions with other parents, I haven't found one parent with a kid that's looking to make the jump. My daughter is a 2001 ECNL player. They'll be juniors when this thing launches. The only ones with a remote interest are those that go to very small high schools.

I've got a daughter that's in somewhat of the same boat. 2020 grad year (9th grader this fall) Top half ECNL player but not ID2 material. I can't see a scenario where see moves. She'll play in Florida and PDA this spring which will be a nice experience. Assuming the showcase schedule remains the same for the following year, that should provide the exposure she needs. There are no aspirations of turning pro or chasing the NT scene. Would love to see her get hooked up with a solid school in the Northeast or Mid Atlantic. She doesn't need to give up school sports and play 10 months of club soccer to get there.

                        Just one parent's two cents.

How many have committed? How many have spoken to the college coaches about it. Coaches of most of the better college teams will be advising kids to go GDAP.

Brought to you by supporters of the GDAP. For 99% of the players in New England with college aspirations, they don't or won't need the GDAP.

This will likely change over time but we are specifically talking about the next 36 months.

Do you really think there will be a drop off in coaches that attend ECNL Showcase events?

Dumb question. Most 2001 kids are starting 10th grade. Only the unicorns might be committed at this point. The average kid looking at A10, Big East or Patriot are not committing as 9th graders.

It will take time for GDAP to get traction. And if you look at next year's Revs U18s, most of them could play U16.
