To paraphrase Neil Young, it's better to win something than not and fade away.

You qualify for the NPL championship by winning your league, while you qualify for National Cup by winning your State Cup (and in some cases a regional tournament).

There are some teams that qualified from weak leagues that aren't very good, but it does not follow that all of the teams are weak. This happens in all sorts of competitions like this at all levels.

Does not happen in ECNL Champions League, nor will it happen in GDAP. There are no weak teams at those levels. Unfortunately, it's now very clear that the NPL Finals can't claim that.

National Cup are winners of US Club State Cup winners.

Isn't every kid and coach involved a winner?

It doesn't happen at ECNL Champions League because the group all the good teams together. All of the crappy teams are lumped together and they play kick ball

And just to help you out a bit more, soccer balls are round, there are 2 nets at opposite ends of the pitch, soccer is played in 2 halves and the team that scores the most goals wins the game.

So what? Is the Women's World Cup good enough for your daughter? Some teams in it got smoked, too. Ivory Coast went 0-3 and was outscored 16-3. Ecuador was even worse, going 0-3 and being outscored 17-1.

Poor comparison. There will always be inequities in international play, especially in group play. The point is that the lower performing countries seldom get out of the group stage. We're talking here about club leagues at the youth level that are all drawing players from the same league, so one would hope that the lower performing teams have been screened out by the time you reach the "National Finals."

Again, not talking about everyday league play here. What is it about about National Finals that doesn't compute for you?

9-1 and 6-1 scores in the NPL Championship Finals involving NEFC U14G and U16 G is a perfect illustration of the earlier point; that NPL Finals is not very legit.

Obviously NEFC understands that, which is why their Elite teams are headed to ECNL next season as Boston Breakers.

Just out of curiosity, if Stars or FC Boston NPL teams had won their brackets would they have played in the same finals as NEFC? I agree that the Elite teams needed to move to ECNL to get stronger competition. Next year both ECNL and NPL teams will be very strong at NEFC. IMO the NPL games next year will probably be closer as the NPL teams will not be as strong as the current elites. Interesting though that the final games were similar in scores (U16) as the state cup games, and I believe the U14 NEFC team lost in state cup. Definitely better competition in the State they could have played and saved a lot of money.

Yes, they would have. In fact, Stars 98G NPL was in Colorado and lost to NEFC Elite in the semis.
