The point is that the lower performing countries seldom get out of the group stage. We're talking here about club leagues at the youth level that are all drawing players from the same league, so one would hope that the lower performing teams have been screened out by the time you reach the "National Finals."

9-1 and 6-1 scores in the NPL Championship Finals involving NEFC U14G and U16 G is a perfect illustration of the earlier point; that NPL Finals is not very legit.
Obviously NEFC understands that, which is why their Elite teams are headed to ECNL next season as Boston Breakers.

I agree that the Elite teams needed to move to ECNL to get stronger competition. Next year both ECNL and NPL teams will be very strong at NEFC. IMO the NPL games next year will probably be closer as the NPL teams will not be as strong as the current elites. Interesting though that the final games were similar in scores (U16) as the state cup games, and I believe the U14 NEFC team lost in state cup. Definitely better competition in the State they could have played and saved a lot of money.
