In either case you end up getting fed a constant stream of David vs Goliath type Kool-aide which disguises the fact that what they are selling is geared towards "C" and "D" level soccer and there is no actual upside to what they offer other than perhaps convenience and price. Buyer beware.
There is nothing inherently wrong with providing training to c and d level players, as 90+% fall into that category. Every club should provide that training.

No, there is nothing wrong at all with providing training for c & d level player. Except it usually is disguised as "THE" smart alternative to being in an "a" environment when what they are offering typically isn't even close to one. SSS is an excellent example. They spend so much energy here trying to convince people that they are a smart alternative to a club like the Stars or NEFC but yet can't even come close to reproducing those two club's development successes. If a parent recognizes that their kid is a c or d level talent with commensurate expectations and accepts that they are joining a small fringe club then a club like Fortis is indeed a good match.

SSS is the best young development model in Mass.
        A generally accepted premise.
They do, however, struggle to maintain older teams-there is a thread dedicated to that issue.

If they are so good, name a true top level player that has come out of their youth system. A second team all patriot league player is nice but hardly the show stopping development success your comment implies. Stars and NEFC are the only ones around here of late that can claim to have produced high level talents. Next closest is the Scorpions and most of those kids are out of college now and they haven't had anything close to that level since then.

Couldn't tell ya, but they are consistently the best developed players that I regularly coach against at the young ages.
Most high level success is an indivual accomplishment, not attributable to one club or another.
Successful teams can lay claim to possibly better garnishment of quality players, but SSS does an amazing job with the young ones, some of whom no doubt go on to play for your mentioned clubs.
And why the snark-can you not appreciate a job well done?

So their teams pass the ball back and forth with some discipline and show some reasonably solid fundamentals. Please explain what they have done with it? Win a bunch of MAPLE games? Please. All that does is make them Queens of the rec level. That's the equivalent of being a practice All American. The club likes to claim they are doing such a great job developing young talent but yet they don't have a single example of their success to prove the point. Development is more than teaching a bunch of bottom to mid roster level players the basics of the game but given you obviously coach at the same bottom tier level it's pretty clear you don't know any different yourself so one must consider the source of your recommendation.

                Brilliant analysis...
