Default Red Bulls Girls Program - Is There a Future?

With Sky Blue FC moving to Red Bull Arena this upcoming season is it only a matter of time before Red Bull GmbH looks to acquire the club from the Murphy Family and builds out a proper girls DA program behind it?

Yes, because they are enamored with USSF and there is so much money to be made in girls soccer given the nature of professional contracts and payouts.

lowest attendance of all the teams, but maybe the move will help that. The two events they had there this year were much better attended. Red Bulls get to sell more concessions at an otherwise idle asset. Win/win there. Impact on GDA? None. GDA might not even be around in two years

Yes, it would be a huge windfall for them to hire coaches and give away free soccer to hundreds of kids (plus uniforms ... travel too??) and then sell 42 tickets for $10 each over the course of the year. You have to be a democrat .... dumbest idea every .... spend a fortune to try to dredge up a few ticket sales from a group notoriously devoid of buying merchandise or paying money for to attend sports .... yes, that's right .... females. Not to mention .... why would NYRB want to give any more power to USSF who does nothing for them but spend their money?! In 2 years. they will have nothing to do with USSF (and neither will any other MLS teams).

NWSL will look much different in 5 years. Three clubs will already be added over the next two years. They finally have big sponsors like Nike and a Budweiser behind them and ESPN. Huge for them. Never had close to this much attention. If itís marketed right it will succeed. With this said, it will never be MLS, but it could be very successful.

You need to separate the two. This was a decision for Sky Blue NWSL and has nothing to do with the GDA. It's a good deal for Sky Blue the TEAM (bigger audience and a more professional appearance) and Red Bulls (more stadium use). It will have no impact on Sky Blue GDA. Virtually non existent NWSL profit margins means free to play GDA will not be coming to the US in our kids' soccer lifetimes. If MLS splits with USSF - which they likely will - again that doesn't really impact either the team or the youth club. Both the club and GDA have too many insurmountable obstacles. Being linked with a pro teams is kind of cool but that's about it. Families don't care about professional careers for their daughters. They want their daughters to get into Georgetown, find a good career and maybe playing soccer will help the get there.

No need to throw politics into it either.

The whole RBDS thing for girls is just a money grab. If they actually had a womenís pro team (which they never will) then maybe it would be something. Either way spend your $ and time whichever way you want....

If you want some good extra training it can work well. Same for boys. You don't do it thinking it will lead to something bigger. Training, that's it.
