No I got the point. Could mean something or it might not. Not sure I'd be investing in a DA club right now. Regardless, new uniforms aren't what parents care about. But maybe they'll have new Cedar Stars uniforms next year!

This is about survival for Beachside. They need a big investor and they obviously are going after this guy. It could very well work for Beachside but they will have to convince him that Beachside is worth it. Only bargaining chip is Academy badge. That is fading fast.

George and how club are in the same boat as BS...what’s the future of tier 2 DA? Bottom line, this guy is a very successful businessman based on what I’ve read, if he views it as a good financial investment, then this deal will happen. BS is an established brand in lower FC and has a lot of paying customers with fat wallets. If George wants expansion into FC-CT to become a tie state club, BS is the perfect acquisition. MK wouldn’t be inclined to partner in my opinion, he may finally relinquish control, take his payout and move to Greece.

But BS isn't strong - they've been losing male players for years, don't have a girls program at all (and their failed attempt this last round didn't do them any favors) and the brand name is tarnished. There's also no assets to purchase other than a DA badge that might prove worthless soon enough. If the guy is smart he waits this season out to see what happens with DA/MLS.

But no doubt MK thinks it's worth far more than it really is, kind of like my neighbor who is trying to sell his house for 20% above market value and wonders why no one is even calling for a showing. I can't imagine him playing nice having to report to an owner. He'd cash out and leave. Any smart investor would probably insist on it

A revived BS would be stiff competition for the other DA teams in the area, and could even prompt a FCW-NYSC merger of some sort.

I think this guy knows the state of play with DA and if anything the uncertainty probably pushes a motivated seller.

The MLS teams have already left DA - from U15 & up it's just top tier competition all fall season as a tune-up for winter showcase, spring showcase and summer tournament. Sure, they play the token game here & there against non-MLS, but for all effects and purposes the split has already occurred. Don't see MLS formally leaving, as that would require their monopoly partner USSF to acknowledge that DA isn't a pathway to anything other than college ball.

Non pro affiliated DA clubs will fall back into the ECNL (US Club Soccer) or EDP/Other (US Youth Soccer). Their focus will be on college placement.

MLS will lead in organizing a pro-academy league and will invite all academies from Div 1, Div 2, and Div 3 clubs in the United States - clubs in these leagues number over 75 at this time. This league will be scouted heavily by USSF and its primary focus will be on developing professional players. Most programs will be free to play.....eventually.

That's a big change. Interesting. Do you think the USL clubs can actually field competitive academy teams or would it still have to be a tiered system? I do think it's very optimistic to say USL clubs will create free academies when the MLS clubs haven't even gotten there yet (maybe that's the "eventually" caveat ;)
