SSS Don't practice as teams

Like others have said on here, no, there is no benefit to training in one big group like that all the time. The best development my kids have gotten was with a single coach who spent 90 minutes 2x per week with the team and was invested in the kids he selected and coached. The "big group training" is fine for individual technical skill development in skills/technical training, but even then it isn't one big group, it is usually divided into smaller groups and stations with coaches at each station.

This isn't rocket science. You wouldn't applaud your school if your 6th grader was put in one big class of 50 every day would you? Of course the kids love it, easier to screw around with their friend and pretend soccer is social hour. Teacher/student ratio is a thing. So is coach/player ratio.

I can tell you your kid is not going to develop in a large group and the younger the group, the less likely they are going to get anything out of it. Coaches can't correct technique and teach tactics in a large group and yes, even at U11/12, basic tactics should be taught.

On most top 11v11 teams, the largest roster for a single coach is 20ish, and those kids are likely High School aged.

What we meant was training will start off as one big group & then the girls will be divided into smaller groups, these groups will train with all the different coaches for a portion of a training session, rotating to train for various skills. So all the girls will train with all the coaches & all the girls. Everyone knows everyone else. The groups constantly change. There is development from many areas, coaches & teammates. There is also team training. However, we wanted to point out that the training is not exclusive to team based. It's more club based through 3 or even 4 age groups too! We think very beneficial. And fun!

Exactly! They’ve changed their system bc they’ve gotten too big too fast. They don’t have enough coaches to cover all their teams and practices. Even with the large groups they keep cancelling practices. They’ll be failing soon if they don’t get some more top coaches.

Then why have so many practices been cancelled on beautiful sunny days? Why were families told they'd get three practices per week and some weeks there have been 1. There were only three "optional" days offered for the Fall and one was cancelled.

They don't have enough coaches.
