Dumb analogy, really dumb. Not the OP, I think you’re asking about Masuk? Just looked it up, beat IHS last year and tied Newtown. Last beat Newtown 4 seasons ago, so it’s been awhile.

Plenty in SWC play Harding and other weaker programs for non conference games. It happens in every conference too - a few nonconference games that may or not be competitive. There's only so many team to play within a reasonable distance. Not a big deal. Every conference has it's own share of terrible teams too - Bridgeport Central anyone?

Masuk might take it only because there's little competition this year. That doesn't necessarily make them the "favorite" because of strength. But there's often surprise in HS soccer and the season is only just starting.

Shelton is a good team- getting beat by 3 though is not a good sign for Masuk
playing Harding wont help them( they will mercy them and feel good but it wont fix anything)

Lowly Shelton? Team won 17 games last year, including a shutout of Masuk, and a SCC championship. Key late season injuries to four senior starters ended Shelton’s chances in the LL tournament.

Newtown graduated their leading scorer and a few seniors and has one very notable player.
Masuk graduated their up top fast kid and has one stand out player and one stronger player.
Weston didn’t lose anything but was just above average last year. They have one stronger player.
Pomp lost 11 (?) seniors including both keepers and their strong kid in the middle. They have no stand out players.
Immaculate lost 12 (?) seniors and their top player. It wasn’t their strongest team last year. N

One a News 12 Scholar athlete who was the Captain for both the Soccer and Basketball Weston HS team.
She also shared the title as highest Goal scorer last season and was the highest point scorer for its BB program all four years. Her choice of sport was BB which she got recruited for will be heavily missed because Weston has no fast offensive attacking winger and One of the two Weston players that was selected as a SWC All conference player 2017 and 2018.

The other Senior another high goal scorer was recruited for her first sport (soccer) and currently the High goal scorer of her college team as a freshman starter, much slower but technical player with a thump of a shot and One of the three players that was selected from Weston as a Patriot division player 2017 and 2018.


So If Pomp lost 11 and Weston lost none and Weston played all horses to death and couldn't get the W. Then they are in serious trouble because they have no True goal scorer.

Good news is, KB is up next.
