Li girls soccer is a merry go round. Players leave a club and go elsewhere and the ones that leave elsewhere fill in the spots. Round and round and round they go until they realize all these clubs are the same and then they age out. Ugg.

Not sure how much conning effort is required. Initially parents are more than ready to write checks to keep their kids happy. They don't know what they're getting themselves into. Then they're hooked in. Later, combine it with extreme anxiety about college (admissions plus paying for it) and clubs don't have to do much to keep their bank accounts healthy.
