Compared to the rest of the nation Oregon club teams are actually 'C' teams. Jus sayin.

Like Oregon is a national powerhouse for girls soccer. That's the stupidest one I hear, we are in top 20 of the Nation!! You have a fair point, how did they get so stupid? Who is fueling this insanity? Too much time at high altitude.

How they would move the game/practice ratio to the optimal level for development. How they would even the playing field by taking away the pay to play model in use by clubs and ECNL.

And here we are. Thorns charging fees comparable to other travel clubs. Girls allowed to opt out of fall league and play high school. Travel weekends with two games a weekend, and players allowed to practice as often or as little as they want.

So we are back to where we were before Thorns launched - some pay to play "elite" clubs, each claiming they are the definitive path to success, and a bunch of local clubs.

The only people I feel sorry for are the girls who bought in from day one. Like the proverbial frog a pot of hot water, they didn't notice that gradually, piece by piece, Thorns turned into every other club in Oregon.
I’m glad Thorns is letting academy girls play high school. We finally got to see the gda players in the same field with and against the ecnl and oysa players. Ecnl players did the best overall and even many oysa players did better than the gda players. Now there is film for college coaches to see and be able to make a valid comparison. HS soccer also allows college coaches to see how different girls perform with the other age groups, just like they’ll be playing in college. Nice to see how a girl who dominates 04 OYSA does vs 04 and older ecnl and gda players.

Who said they are going to let GDA kids play HS? The original post says they have to opt out of the fall season of DA to do so, and I don't think many will do that so it's just an empty promise again.

A bunch of claptrap coming from the usual suspects.

When they can name a girl that a) played HS soccer (and point to a link on maxpreps showing her on the roster), and b) has played a game for Thorns as well, then give this nonsense some credence. Right now there's nobody. (There was one girl, I think, who signed up for Thorns, quit, and went to play HS ball instead, her name is still listed on the Thorns roster at the GDA website, but she has zero games played).

But for some reason, some of the tools at CU feel the need to portray the Thorns as a desperate and talent-bare organization, perhaps as part of a recruiting pitch to discourage other girls from going there. There's really no need for that--if a girl wants to do HS sports, she shouldn't do GDA, and vice versa. Some girls are more serious about soccer than others, and some girls live in districts where the HS team is terrible (mostly rec-level players, and/or poor coaching). To each her own.

Just heads up no College coach at a higher level (say Top 100 of D1 for example) would ever dare translating recreational Oregon HS performances or even consider attending an OSAA girls HS game. Sorry, but who the heck is feeding your brain with your complete and utter nonsense.

Your statements are so far out in the outer limits of pure imagination, it's actually comical.

HS Soccer is played in the fall in Oregon and Division 1 coaches aint making any trips to watch these recreational rodeo shows. Sorry. Get help or better yet get educated.

                    You make this so easy:

U18/19 roster - Gish (Jesuit), Gorlach (Lincoln), and Votava (Jesuit) added to roster after finishing their HS season. Gorlach played in their game last Saturday.

Before you say they didn't play HS, here's a link indicating Votava made second team all league: http://www.metroleague.org/all-leagu...Year=2019-2020

Also here is the Max Preps link you wanted: https://www.maxpreps.com/high-school...cer/roster.htm

U17 roster - Burns (Southridge) added to roster after finishing her HS season.

Here's the Max preps link you were asking for: https://www.maxpreps.com/high-school...cer/roster.htm

U16 roster - Deline (Corbett) added to roster after finishing her HS season, and played in academy game last Saturday.

Before you say she didn't play HS, here's the link listing her as making second team all league: https://www.oregonlive.com/sports/g6...-the-year.html

U15 and U14 roster - none added. Coincidence that most girls in these age groups aren't in HS yet? Probably not.

I personally don't have a dog in the never ending Thorns versus CU debate that rages on here. But when you post such easily debunkable lies, it's hard to ignore. The facts are clear: Thorns did not get the quality of players they wanted at their May tryouts. Because of that, they allowed not only seniors from private schools to play HS soccer, but hosted supplemental tryouts for the first time in their history, to attempt to improve their rosters. Had they been happy with what they got in May, they would not have had open tryouts like they did a few weeks ago. One can always try to join a club team (even the Thorns) after tryouts. If you're good enough, they'll take you. But hosting a full club supplemental tryout showed that they were concerned about teams being competitive. This is a fact and your attempts to spin and mislead are pretty sad.

See? If you post links and other evidence, people might believe you. Simply post allegations without any evidence, it looks like the usual BS around here. Not that hard.

It will be interesting to see if anyone lodges any complaints with US Soccer--particularly if such comes from any rival DA clubs.

Operating as a pro club, nice.

Just a heads up einstein pro clubs always recruit high talent and let those not cutting it go bye bye. It might be tough for you, but don't confuse local neighborhood kiddo club 'year round commitment' entities, who are beholden
To their non profit clients paying tens of thousands of dollars a year for recreational club participation vs a pro club that is paying and subsidizing the experience for future pros.

                        Know your lane.

Thorns don’t need to worry about getting top players. It’s just kids and just s game.

Nobody said they get the best players. Nobody cares what you think.

                          Stay in you lane bro.

Yeah we know they don’t exactly get the best players but that’s none of your business.
