    Well, that leaves OW out.

Somehow they always budget for the most expensive hotels in the area though...smh

Exactly all these stupid parents. Go play in the 10th flight and spend 2k to pretend your kid plays on a good team. Another zero in the long line of zeroes in CT soccer landscape

You know the Mom sipping her 13th coffee on the sideline snapping picks of her little Mia for her facebook page and blabbering nonsense to her friends at the local scone pick up joint

Neither of you sound like elite, snob, *****s. Would love to know which amazing CT big 3 club your little princesses play at that have figured it all out and stomping the competition.

my kid got a boat load of $ for college at one of those "crappy "tournaments
if you dont like them dont go, but that is where you get recruited, if you are so inclined

college coaches arent watching your kid at some sunday game , unless they already know who they are and want to see more

If these tournaments aren't for you, then now is probably the time to pull the ripcord. Jeff Cup turns down way more teams than they accept so the level is generally pretty good. I do agree with you that traveling to VA especially at 14 and under to play on some remote field really sucks it is expensive. That said, these events really matter at 16 and up and the directors look at the experience of the teams when considering acceptances. It's the exact reason why clubs like Sporting never get in, they simply lack the pedigree when the kids get older.

The showcase weekend at Jeff Cup is the real deal. In normal years its packed with college coaches from every level. Lot's of CT kids get their break and get recruited as a result of this event.

Would love to hear your thoughts on what you consider to be the better options in the CT landscape? Is staying in Portland and hammering Tolland travel indoors better use of your time?

the showcases have value for the recruiting years. Driving all the way to south VA for 12 year old soccer? Not so much.

I don't know anyone who goes to Jefferson Cup who bemoans the experience. Of course there is some bitching about the drive, but most families enjoy the quiet time with their kids. And the kids enjoy taking a trip with their teammates and the big dinners, etc. If the parents and kids on the team get along, it's a nice yearly tradition.

This discussion is more about it's necessity. Lots of experiences can be lovely and fun for all, just not "needed". This year for sure the competition by all accounts was quite weak.

If more parents started pushing back on the "necessity" for all this travel before U14 we'd see a lot less of it and many families could save a lot of money. It would also give them more time to see if their kid really has a shot and really wants it before spending even more for U15+.

We leave tomorrow and I currently have two playing soccer in college, has been a great experience and lots of opportunities to be seen by college coaches in previous years. I'm excited to spend time with my daughter and see her and her teammates play again. I know she is excited as she hasn't played a lot of games in the past year. Why do you care what bracket as long as your kid gets to play a game she loves, get in shape for their season and shake off some of the rust. $2k to go to Jeff Cup, explain that math? I guess you fly your own plane, stay at the Four Seasons and shuttle back and forth with your driver? Must be from Westport

Don't bother. I'm sure it was the same guy reminding everyone the state "rules". This is one of the oldest, largest and most well known tournaments in the country. If your kid plays club soccer you hope they get the chance to play in this event a few times.

Good event, not quite as good as it used to be but still worthwhile - even more so for kids that have been badly delayed in the process because of Covid. They need to get in front of coaches asap. This year the competition won't be full strength and college coach attendance will be disappointing because NCAA rules and D1 college schedules. Organizers better have their feeds up and running

Its a tank of gas each way and two nights in a comfort inn. I guess the poors are active on the board today! Most of us haven't been away in a year and our kids have hardly played games. People are unreal!

Are parents really complaining about the Jefferson Cup? Look at the history and the teams playing. Any club player would love the opportunity regardless of age. As a another poster mentioned, teams have to get involved in the events early to claim a spot when older. Yankee and Oakwood teams in the past did this and their kids got recruited. In fact, both clubs sent teams to PDA and no doubt got in from having Jeff Cup on their resume.

There are no feeds from some reason. No live streams.
