I'm not even sure what tournament is being discussed but it sounds like it was several weeks ago. Most school are all up in your shorts to provide a negative test if they find out your kid was out of state (ours was over a college visit a few weeks ago). They're simply following state protocols, plus, you know, trying to keep schools open. Crazy, right?!

A neighbor just had an embarrassing public hissy fit when her son was sent home from school after skiing in VT at their ski house. Not only was the nurse following the rules, but they weren't supposed to be in VT either (VT bans out of staters). Sure the risk was low but that doesn't mean there aren't rules - and when people don't follow them the gov't just makes it worse for everyone

Tournaments are still prohibited even after March 1 despite what some posters on here think. They are misinterpreting the change or just outright ignoring the rule. The state can't do anything preemptively. But if this violation were reported after the fact, the club could get fined and sanctioned. Any participating families could also face penalties.

In grand scheme of enforcement priorities this isn't one of them. I'm sure the teams registered for Jeff Cup did so hoping the rule would change beforehand - and it could for all we know. I would think Jeff Cup has an out clause allowing you to drop out if travel isn't permitted at the time of the event (maybe with a small amount of $ lost). The situation is constantly changing so planning much of anything more than two weeks out is a risky venture, but I can't blame people for trying to be optimistic either. We're sick of it all.
