And by the way - it screws up 2 years of youth soccer experience. Kids get hit in the front end when 1/2 team goes off to HS and they get hit in the back end when 1/2 team goes off to college. And in some cases it's 3 times as many clubs will bring back those some college players during regional or national events.
Ok so i rounded up a teeny bit... 5/21/07 vs 8/16/08 ... still a pretty big difference when they were in 1st grade.

Never understood why parents move their kids during the middle of the year? Clubs must know that if a player is leaving 1/2 way thru there must be reasons- usually bad for leaving

Clearly you haven’t read the other comments before your own. Plenty of good reasons for players to move this year. Just read.

in both my daughters GU-14 and GU-16 age group a few girls moved to ECNL clubs, but that's expected, but otherwise from what we are all hearing not much going on since the fall. Very quiet on this front.

2 years ago, I knew of a few U12 girls who left a team in the winter because their coach was a verbally abusive screamer. Would you understand why their parent might move them, or would you suggest they leave their daughters in that situation?

Thread drift...but how does this work if you go onto an ECNL roster mid-season. Do they shuffle someone else off, or just add bodies?

Depends on the size of the current roster. They can just add them even if they go over the game day limit but then someone has to sit unless there are injuries, absences etc.

ECNL rosters are typically 22-26 players so they will add bodies.

It seems the parents are the one who want want to move, the club owners are the ones hate this. It's understandable. At the end it's a free market. Bad club will be out of business sooner or later. Better to have your backup plans, if you see some of your players are leaving in the middle of season...

What's going on with the Surf girls? Seems like significant movement.

Depending on age level, what's odd about moving in winter? At least at 9th grade and up, after the school season, just before the spring club season?
