It also means constant change and churn as new-entrants try to do one better than existing entities to gain market share. I would not be surprised if in a few years' time, there would be a completely new 'elite' league , claiming better connections with colleges, or something that finds a new marketing angle besides college admissions/scholarships. For instance, it is not inconceivable that there could a new structure that markets that it will facilitate kids playing two sports competitively. By allowing multiple sports to be played under the same governing umbrella, they could claim that it will allow for coordination of schedules and development across the two sports.
As a second example, as colleges suffer through covid-19 and are able to offer only a diluted on-campus experience for the foreseeable future, perhaps even the next 2-3 years, and as enrollment declines because of lack of affordability, colleges might get into the business of youth sports too.
Suffice to say that we are living in a time of great change. As things start to open up, over the next 2-3 years, there are going to be great changes in many areas of our lives.
