If not soon then, why, when statistics clearly demonstrate at this point that healthy youth are no more likely to succumb to protracted health issues from COVID-19 than any other illness, are we to be expected to radically alter our way of life to a "new normal" both within and without the circle of soccer?

Because kids can be carriers, and will interact with other at-risk individuals, they may pass the virus on to others unknowingly. Additionally, just as we Honor the Game in soccer, which means following the rules even when you can get away without following them, we choose to partner with our Governor and local officials and follow all mandates to insure the safety of all in our community.
    You seem nice.

We are talking about a virus that has infected .002% of our state population and killed .0001%. Its time to allow kids sports to come back. More people in our state have died of fentanyl overdoses since march than the virus but the media isnt covering that one bit. All our families have a higher chance of dying in a car accident on the way to soccer than from the virus. It's super simple, if you are not comfortable allowing your kid to play then keep them home.

Its a sad statistic but true. In the eastside community where we live, during the lock down, we have lost two young people to fentanyl/opiod overdose and 3 elderly people (so far) to covid. Its time to let kids at least start training. I would be more worried about my sons coach's health then my 12 year old.

Got to love the people who got their degree in epidemiology from Facebook.

These idiots who TAKE INTO ACCOUNT the preventative measures the state has put in place to prevent community spread, harm, and deaths (only .002%... .001%)... and then state there a greater harm of x, y, z.

IDIOTS! Are you in grade school with your DD?

Gentle readers. You have to understand that there are possibly quite a few physicians and science PhDs out there reading this from our select demographics of soccer parents. So, what you regurgitate from MSM and the internet to here are being challenged. I know reddit, breitbart, and cnn "facts" are alluring, easily digestible, and spewable to support your cavalier position, but please rethink before posting here. Using statistics and numbers without knowing the facts about COVID-19 are irresponsible and dangerous. We are three months in and we still do not know the basics of this weird RNA virus.

I am holding my breath, but will bravely run away like Sir Robin. Yeah, been watching alot of movies.

Georgia opened up 3 weeks ago and still the numbers are still going down....hmmmmm

What do you have to say about that?

The Orange Sh*tgibbon said it all yesterday. "If we didn’t do any testing, we would have very few cases."

Do us all a favor and go lick a doorknob, you ****.

It's hard to take you seriously when you don't know basic math.

.002% of an 8 million population would be 160 infected people in the state of WA and .0001% of 8 million is 8 deaths. Pretty sure your numbers are a little off. Maybe go back to grade school and review percents.

They didn't immediately open everything with tons of people out in the streets and businesses busy right from day one. That still hasn't happened yet, many people are still at home. And we know the virus takes at least 2 weeks to show up in testing. So let's see what happens in a few weeks.

its been 3 weeks. Why test? We are looking at death counts, not positive counts.

well you weren't clear but if you're talking death counts then 3 weeks definitely isn't enough time. COVID incubation time is up to 2 weeks and then the course of the disease can be another 2-3 weeks. so if someone got coronavirus on the first day of the opening, it could be 4-5 weeks later until they died and showed up in a count.

I mostly agree with you -- but don't lump CNN in with Breitbart and Reddit. Not the same at all. CNN isn't perfect but they have scientists on all the time to discuss what's happening, including a top UW researcher.

Asking "why test?" in the midst of a global pandemic? Peak 2020. Because who cares if someone who lives down the street dies, these kids need to get ready for the Crossfire Challenge.

Go back to posting memes on Facebook. That's your intellectual ceiling.
