It’s crazy that people get so pumped over this or that league nonsense, particularly some club coaches. Maybe there is bonus payment involved for the club or something, but for a player it may not make a whole lot of difference. There could a million ECNL or GAL or XYZ clubs, but in the end the typical player will likely play 15 teams or less in any given year. They’ll play the same 4 or 5 teams twice in a typical season (and maybe every season for several years) and then another 10 or so at a few tournaments annually. And as far a college recruiting, most schools do 90% or their recruiting regionally and most players don’t go to school more than 300 miles from home. It doesn’t matter if these leagues have dozens of clubs 2,000 or 3,000 miles away if you aren’t going there.

To be fair, Oakwood was 81 and NYSC was 100 as of February. How did they fall off without playing any games while we were all locked down?

Because the March tally included ECNL Texas Event and league games the first weekend or so of March.

Travel 560+ miles on a weekend to crap games and people are all for it.Then write language that high school is allowed during the season with the club playing at the same time is a recipe for disaster.DA lame try again nty.

Hubris prevented these clubs from going to USYS, as they wanted something to differentiate themselves (aka too good for USYS now). And to be clear, EVERY SINGLE CLUB in GAL would jump ship in a second if they were invited to play in ECNL. Every. SINGLE. One.
It's not "everyone for himself" it's doing what's best for the club and it's customers, and yes, that is joining ECNL if you have the opportunity.
Not the poster and of course they would join ECNL now if they could. Some can't either because of market saturation (Oakwood has no shot, CT doesn't need a 3rd club) or politics (NEFC?). They're trying to salvage their teams and income, even if temporarily for a year or two, but this won't be the long term solution.
