really what test would you rely on in Feb- the latest test available has a 50% false positive test rate (5 months in)

No, the only RT-PCR test that is THAT bad is the Abbot ID NOW “game changer” that has been touted by ....Trump.

That received emergency use authorization by the FDA on March 27.

Other tests did quite a bit better and were available by the end of Jan, but we decided to “go it alone”

Your excuses fail spectacularly when facts are examined

Good point. You are correct actually. Expats should have been sent to mandatory 14 day quarantine before they were allowed back into society. That’s what “smarter” countries did but we didn’t have the will or the resources people in Hong Kong, Korea et al had I guess

        MAGA MAGA MAGA , right?

Once Trump enacted the European "ban"* the Feds claimed they would be screening new arrivals. It was later learned they did less than 10%. Then those returnees went home or got onto domestic flights.

          * as with the supposed China ban the rules were pretty lax, very little screening or instructions on quarantining.

Some countries have mandatory government quarantine at their facilities or mandatory at home with fines if you violate. Very savvy ones send healthcare workers to check on you and bring you what you need so you don't go out until you're cleared. SK, China and others have greatly reduced their internal cases but still have ones coming in from other nations. This is a very important issue longer term considering how many people travel through our many international airports

Meanwhile, GA and FL just got caught cooking their books to better justify reopening fast. But you would sooner speculate on others rather than fixing the malfeasance in your own house? Interesting. Are those GOP values, 2020 addition.

BTW, even after he’s gone, the GOP is the party of Trump.

Never said I did, but right now I tend to - China has the world watching them now. They can't afford another scandal. Their numbers are also consistent with other countries who have gotten it under control. We have have data from plenty of other countries to work with if you're uneasy using China's numbers.

China but does that excuse Trump from missing forest for focusing on the China tree? NYC, Boston, Miami etc paid the price ....cities with most flights from
                    Italy and Spain.

Trump failed to protect us from infection via travel from Europe. Period.
Can’t spin it - he didn’t take same steps as with China.

In fact the east coast cases are linked to European strains of the virus. When people started returning from Europe only 10% were screened for symptoms (the WH claimed they all would be) and no one told to stay home for 14 days. If they didn't land in their home towns, they got on domestic flights to go home. Great plan.

There was a 6 week lead time from his China ban to the European one and the administration did nothing to prepare for what all the heath experts said was coming down the pike.

His China ban wasn't much of a "ban" either.

the fact that you think their numbers are consistent with other countries tells me everything I need to know about your deductive skills

they ignored the outbreak for a month in a city of 10 million- and you think they have the same cases as south Korea?- that's amazing

So you are finally admitting that without applying the same measures to Europe, Trumps travel ban on China was feckless and in itself not effective. Otherwise we wouldn’t be #1 in infections and deaths.

See? You guys wind up admitting the truth when we just give a little line at first after you take the bait.

when did Trump enact the china ban? When did Italy confirm its first case of the wuhan flu? if you were calling for a european travel ban on the same day you must be Kreskin...more like you were calling him a xenophobe when he did that...should he have enacted the travel ban on europe earlier...sure...but that is easy to see in hindsight...put in context the eurpoean countries and libs were up in arms when he enacted their travel ban as well...if you give no context to your statements then you lose credibility(and you do not have much left to lose guppy)

Travel bans generally don't work because by the time health experts understand what's going on, it's already out of the barn in today's airline world. Yes it can help slow things down, but as noted Trump only partly closed China while leaving European gravel wide open, even as cases and horror stories were dominating the news for a few weeks before Trump changed tactics mid March.
