They've had U13 teams for three years now, starting with the 05s. For two of the past three years, the TA U13 and U14 teams competed in the Seattle DA league. When that went away, those age groups this past season (06 and 07) went to a "training and scrimmage" program.

What will happen next year, I don't know. The 08s will be U13s, and the new MLS academy platform goes down to U13. Whether clubs are required to field teams at every age group, or not, I don't know. Whether the Timbers will have a U13 team next season, I don't know either.
Our May date traditional club tryouts have come and gone due to the pandemic, so 08's are now u13's just for discussion and clarity. They train with size 5 balls as well. The DA is dead and gone as well. This newly introduced youth league platform with MLS and elite local clubs has no requirement about which age groups the elite youth club or MLS side must field, this is not a US Soccer mandated DA of the must do incarnation.

No 08's aka u13 team for 2020-21 has already been shared by the Timbers. So, what ages they do intend on having? Tentatively they plan on fieldy newly rostered u15 & u17 teams with no geographic restrtrictions. The u19 squad is a bit of a tba at this moment, along with everything else. All of this source information is shared by Timbers youth staffers, those not yet furloughed.

This is incorrect. Timbers staff told some 08 discovery kids to plan to play with their clubs this coming year and they will continue to watch them develop (meaning "sorry, but you didn't make the final cut"). They told others that they have not finalized what the 08 program will look like and it will either continue to be a discovery program (practice 2-3 days per week but play games with your club when and if games happen) OR Timbers will field an 08 team and kids will need to make a decision before July 6, which is the current club "tryout date", whether they will commit to Timbers 08 team, or go back to a club. Timbers will notify the remaining 08s about those two options prior to July 6. 07s and 06s are still up in the air, but Timbers staff are proceeding as if the teams are still in place for next year - twice weekly team calls, at home weekly training plans, etc.

Just a heads up it's been finalized there is no Timbers 'discovery' 08B team for 2020-21. Sorry you weren't informed, yet. We have been notified.

You can keep repeating this post all over the boards but plenty of people know it’s not true

This is true. We were told that they did not know what exactly was going to happen.. that there either was going to be a prolonged discovery program with kids playing with their team and practicing with Timbers (occasional game like they played agains Idaho) or they would be a part of the TA full time.

The truth is that the TA has no reason to withhold information. Once a firm decision is made we will all know.

Don't feel badly if you didn't get the information yet, you will. BTW it's true.

No matter how much you want to deny this, why you don't want to face this reality is quite strange. Nobody loses out or is victimized by this team not coming together.

To help refresh you about this type of denial thinking, think about the topic of the Thorns Academy being invited to the US Club ecnl, many idiots with agenda's or emotional irrational beliefs said THIS was not true and people know it's not TRUE!!!

Check with the source to confirm, it's decided.

There will not be a PTFC 08 team.

The new MLS league will be U15/17/19 only.
                The reason-
They can’t subsidize that many teams. It costs $250k/year/team.

There will be training for the 08’s but no league to play in. They will train once a week and play games with their club teams

So there is no team or league. Just kick arounds.
