"The Girls Academy League is a new competition platform launched by members of the Development Player League (DPL). The DPL was originally created through a collaboration of Southwest Division DA clubs, with a national leadership group consisting of representatives from LA Surf (Barry Ritson), Legends FC (Kevin Boyd), Tophat Soccer (Troy Garner), Lonestar SC (Wes Schevers) and FC Dallas Youth (Matt Grubb)" (Soccerwire)
One of the GAL's co-founders is Legends FC. I doubt they would create a league to put their second team into it. That forum you referenced is just like this one. People just giving opinions without any evidence. Go read some more forums from Texas next time!

In addition, your listing of where these clubs are playing is full of wrong or misleading information. Here are a few that I know of offhand:
Albion San Diego - GAL
Albion Las Vegas - GAL
Beach FC - GAL (second team in ECNL RL)
LA Surf - GAL
Legends FC - GAL (second team in ECNL RL)

Next season
What is happening to all these clubs are they folding or are the girls quitting because they can't be in the academy program?
there are clubs who are just going to continue like nothing happened, my daughter's team got together and formed 2 new teams that they pretty much chose for themselves. The club maintained all the schedules and fields for training and they plan to carry on.
The new setup seems to be better for most of the girls, they continue with their coaches, trainers and teammates, they are now allowed to play other sports or school soccer and they got to choose up teams via snapchat before they accepted their place in the club.
The only disappointing development has been the cancellation of the NCE programs, we were looking forward to the summer tournaments and training which has all been cancelled.
Hope these clubs can get over their own egos and put together some competitive teams before soccer starts again, nothing worse than playing teams that operate in a state of confusion. There are more than enough players and the girls all know each other by now, so there really is no excuse for failing them over a few dollars.

LA Surf girls announced they are going GA on April 25th.
