The only people who care how other people spend their money and time care because they are jealous. It’s laughable and embarrassing.

You can call specifically Thorns GDA what you will as far as talent level, it just depends on each team, but the league they play in is the real deal. There are PLENTY of not weak teams in the NW Division of ECNL, not sure on Regional or National divisions of USYS these days, but probably plenty at least Nationally, BUT the difference is there is not the same consistency of hard games in these leagues. The Thorns play SC Blues2x this year, Real So CA, LA Galaxy, San Diego Surf, Placerx2, Reignx3, CA Thornsx2, San Jose Earthquakesx2. Come out and watch ANY of these games. Even if Thorns aren’t up to the task, there are no gimme games in the bunch. If anything, the Thorns are viewed as a layup for most of these teams.

Ahem.
GDA is the weakest league in the country, you fools! Rec teams can beat squads like the Galaxy and the Earthquakes! After all, all girls with talent WANT to play high school ball, no exceptions, so every GDA team is made ENTIRELY of players who were cut from their high school! (Or, for the younger kids, the girls who were told by the high school coach to not waste their time coming to tryouts!) Even most JV teams are better than the GDA! And the Thorns are the worst of the bunch--why their U19 team is so hard up for players that they are using a FOURTEEN YEAR OLD! One that their sponsor had to bribe to even play with them! How desperate do you have to be??????

Not good teams?
Expensive?
Short bus in slow lane?
It’s not cheap but it’s not that expensive.
You can’t expect them to win games. That’s unfair expectation.

I heard they are trying to make it free so that might help with turnout?
I would bet most clubs are not recommending the thorns due to past experience, but you should ask your DOC for advice.
