So with your attempted logic the ECNL is not elite and should be marginalized to what it is, pay to travel.

BTW this is talking Soccer OREGON. No Cal has its own forum post there or call US Soccer.

A private business pays for the Thorns it's their decision not yours.

Unlike a community based non profit club that is required to have a volunteer boards of parents approve programs for its membership. All members of that club have the right to ask questions and begin the process of change. Thorns DA is not that, don't tryout problem solved.

Are you really this dense and clueless.
Agreed with you on the Thorns.

The issue is with OYSA who are non profit has all of their strings pulled by Perigrine Sports (Timbers/Thorns).

Perigrine Sports is for profit and will do what is best for their self interest. The OYSA board needs to do a better job of managing the OYSA and Perigrine partnership for the benefit of their membership.

Perigrine income stream from OYSA includes league fees, State Cup Fees, ODP, coaching education, etc... Perigrine is for profit and I wouldn't think they would have any issues from profiting from there relationship with OYSA.

It is not Pregrine that is the issue. It is your OYSA board.

This only came about due to the childish and foolish exodus by many clubs from OYSA to the US Club sponsored and short lived OPL. Once the OPL was falling apart GW and the Timbers/Thorns had already parked their RV at the vacant OYSA county fairgrounds. They (GW) kept OYSA afloat by hiring a couple of soon to be unemployed OYSA staffers and outsourced their OYSA functions to the peregrine umbrella. (RTC,ODP & newly created 'Timbers Camps')

The groundwork had been done and the takeover of the Tin Shack was easy and when the former OPL clubs came back to the place called they knew as the OYSA league it was now called the Timbers/Thorns OYSA and Cups.

What any of this has to do with the USDA is merely a coincidence not a source of funding.

Present Day the Timbers/Thorns own the state of youth soccer in Oregon and they a 10yr contract to back it up.

The OYSA was brought to it's knees by the foolish DOC's club departures they (OYSA) were either going to close shop or find a saviour in their desperate hours. They found a messiah in GW Peregrine. (The Devil will always seize these moments)

You never know who will be living in your house (OYSA) if you just leave and return 4 years later and then begin to bitch about the new landlord.

The DOC's did this to themselves and blew up a once proud competitive state assc into a quagmire of mediocre pay to play clubs.

With a handful of delusional clubs staying in the OPL until it was 40,000 leagues under the season by that time they were too embarrassed to return to the OYSA so those few remaining OPL clubs opted instead to sign up for a girls league that they had no business being part of and the results on the field verify their stupidity and recklessness with parents hard earned monies.

      OYSA BOD, that's funny.

Wasn't GW one of the main actors in the childish and foolish exodus to US Club Soccer? He just saw a way to divert money from OPL to Peregrine and took advantage of it.

As you want to place blame on the state of our competitive state association, you leave out the fact that times have changed. We now have boys and girls DA as well as ECNL. You take out these players, there is not much left over no matter who is running the Oregon leagues.

GW did his thing, the OPL tried their thing. The OYSA is what it is today.

You fail to realize nothing has actually changed just by slapping 'Little DA' names on local clubs that doesn't change them in any way shape or form. Just like joining another league offered by US Club for girls doesn't change anything they still are the same OYSA also rans an occasional OYSA state cup champs and regional flat tires.

The Timber/Thorns truly have the only bona fide and funded USDA youth older age teams in our marketplace. Guess what the MLS timbers are reaching way outside of Oregon these days to fill their rosters as they want to create future home grown Timbers someday. Girls DA also have the upper hand in attracting players due to branding, US Soccer and paying for all the travel required.

By fracturing average clubs into so called little 'DA's is truly comical and the with DOC's forcing neighborhood clubs of girls to travel to get smacked all across the nation is hysterical.

The DOC's bite onto anything with a label 'little DA' or ECNL league with the hope it magically changes their reality and improve their salary.

          It's truly impressive.

Why is a for profit organization getting all the fees for leagues in Oregon?

Same reason why for profit contractors get money for government projects.

There just needs to be better oversight.

It is easy to steal from boy scouts, PTA, sports clubs, etc...

It's just not Peregrine. There is a private for profit contractor in Oregon raking in $$$ for the mere task of scheduling for many clubs and the OYSA. They also piggy back their services for local club sponsored tourneys.

Non profit clubs in Oregon have little to no infrastructure to take care of their core functions, private party vendors swoop in to do the task and get paid. Plus they have exhausted so much of the payroll budget on DOC's, office staff, camp directors, PDP/YDP directors etc. they can't afford to delegate these minor tasks to these 'professional' coaches.

                        Sounds like a scam.
