What is the "we" crap. "You" are in a spot where you are unhappy and so you are carrying on your complaint here. Are you hoping your board will read this post and fix everything for you.
I work for Intel. I don't have much inputs into our CEO's performance appraisal or salary appraisal.
My question to the coaches is how often do you spend teaching basic fundamentals?
How much of your practice plan is built around team flaws or things they need to work on?
Do you write your practice plan out for each team you coach? Not just one plan for all of your teams? Hopefully each of your teams have different issues.
Can you teach all facets of the game? Possession/ball skills/defensive work-individual and team/passing and trapping/dribbling/overlapping runs/ thru balls/ pressure cover balance/spacing/ speed of play/give and go's/pressing as a team/defensive 3rd/middle third/ final 3rd/finishing............ It's a lot to cover if you want a better product. How many coaches focus on all of this? Or better yet have the patience to do so or know how? Not many including DOCS
How many coaches work on let's just shoot today? Or every practice is let's just scrimmage? NOT MUCH PLANNING OR THOUGHT GOES INTO THIS!
Could you imagine if our school teachers did this to our kids. We would ask for our teachers jobs!!!!
Are you going to take the time or have the patience to fix and work backwards if your team struggles in a certain area?
Are you concerned with winning early or development and a better product in the end? It's a longer process but a better end product!
Can you get the best out of all of your players? Are you a good motivator?
Just remember you are all TEACHERS of the game and if your kids were failing and the parents are complaining its time to take a long hard look at yourself and ask the question am I doing everything I can to be the best coach/teacher of the game. Or am I doing this for the money?
Parents can tell if you are giving your best to their kids and SO CAN THE KIDS! Not sitting there drinking your coffee and talking with other coaches for the majority of the training session about God knows what!
Parents are smarter than they used to be, with more parents that have played the game than ever you can't get away with status quo anymore. We are watching and will not bite our tongues anymore!

But the coaches only practice shooting games at training. Then complain that these kids have no skill!

There is soooooooooooooooooooo much to work on and not enough coaches willing to put the time and effort in to raise the level of play!

The big club DOC's are fair game as they get paid very well. However you cannot cell expect the earth from team coaches who aren't paid to go the extra mile so to speak. Many do a great job all things considered.

In season no days off

But hey we here in PDX have very little understanding what a quality coaching program is or what should be incorporated beyond kicking the ball.
Lastly, we don't pay our regular coaches enough. the are barely making gas and car payments! In other major cities the better clubs pay double and some times triple what we pay so you know what they say about getting what you pay for!

Yeah! Portland only kicks the ball. Nothing else. Just kick ball. Boot ball is all we get. It's outrageous. We should fire all the coaches and docs. Parents can fill in for gas money and pitchers of beer.
We need a change!!!!

I see our new DOC at least a couple times a week out checking on trainings and games. It's been kind of weird, really, to see a DOC so active. I think it helps the coaches step up when they know the boss cares about what they're doing and will be around to see the quality of work.

crazy
Who ever doesn't think their pay is out of alignment with what they do is crazy. Teachers make $50,000 and many of them have their masters and we trust our kids future with them? Nurse's make less and save yours or loved ones lives? And why is there so many problems with clubs if these people are earning that much, they should be on top of these clubs. But then NFL players make $$$$$$ for what? The world has strange priorities.
