If you want to know how she plays, find out for yourself. I would suggest that all of us who have a DK in the area would absolutely love to have him/her have such an opportunity to play at such a high level. If she hasn't been selected to play for the WNT but her name is in the conversation, doesn't tha speak volumes.

As with most opinions on this site, I am disgusted with the responses to a juggling post especially about someone (both ladies spoken about) who clearly has talent. If you want to talk juggling vs. playing ability, let's go for it but I can promise that you wouldn't have the guts to state these comments in public face to face to anyone associated with these ladies. I feel sorry for you, I truly do.

Now, leave the personal attacks out of the conversation and let's get back on topic.
What's the "topic"? This was an over the top parent posting a video of a training exercise on a soccer board. Again, so what's the topic of discussion--is everyone else as impressed with my DD as her adoring parents are?

This is one of those things where anyone with any class will say, great job. That video was well done. Keep working hard and I hope you achieve your goals. Not criticize every last point to prove what? What's the point you critics are trying to prove?
Why so defensive? If this was a fun video her family put together, that is great! It is a fun video. It seems however like all those being offended think it is wrong to ask questions about the type of skill shown.

I have not seen anyone criticize this girl personally, and no one should. However some of the technical comments made are spot on.

It is unfortunate these seem to have hurt your feelings/pride.

Well, she is 12 and has 6 years to worry about that. I'm sure she will be successful.

Nice spin. It's not going to work and your criticism of this kid is transparent. You should be shamed.

Like high/lows, placement, etc. Practicing ups alone is only partially developing for the real game, and more suited to preparing for YouTube videos.

And there is a huge difference between being a YouTube sensation with a specific highly specialized skill and a soccer talent, just ask Indie (who BTW was literally magnitudes more developed and skillful as a freestyle juggler than this player and all the other YouTube soccer skill sensations whose name you don't know and have never seen play on TV). She should be proud of her skill, but if her goal is the US WNT, 5000 ups is long, long way from it. Hope she and her parents don't confuse a single highly developed skill with being a highly developed soccer player. That's all. Good luck to her, hope she makes it.
Yeah like this "personal attack" / going back through the thread it's only the OP who is name calling and attacking others who dare to provide legitimate technical commentary (body lean) or observations (lack of variety in touches), but no one has attacked the player. If the OP just wanted people fawning over their player for this video of a skill 100s of kids across the country can do, TS is certainly not the place to post. It just shows that the OP has little or no experience with the game believing that their player has a unique skill, which she does not. It's good, but nothing unique. Yes, TS is full of negative people but also full of people who have been around the game and know a thing or two about it.

No you should be ashamed as being one of those insufferable parents who feel the need to boast and tell the rest of the uncaring world how wonderful your child is. Pathetic. Enjoy your child, brag to your family and friends, but the rest of us could care less. We're not criticizing your player--it's YOU we're criticizing. How's that for spin?

"Nice attention…but it concerns me a little to observe her posture and technique…obviously good enough to keep the ball in the air, but more like a circus act than any real skills."

This is what started it ... I would have to say that saying this is "more like a circus act than any real skills" is a negative statement and a slam on a 12 year old girl. The fact that this poster is compelled to critique rather then praise or better yet, STFU says much about the inadequacy syndrome this individual suffers from.
To try and smooth this over with a statement like he/she is focusing on a critique of technique is a thinly veiled attempt to cover up the fact that you slammed a 12 year old. Quit making excuses for your extremely bad judgment.

To use some of the verbiage from the above quote, " It is unfortunate these seem to have hurt [ a 12 YEAR OLD GIRL'S] feelings/pride"

                    Shame on you.

No shame on you for needlessly subjecting your DD to commentary and feedback (some of which may indeed may be construed as negative) by feeling the need to post a video of her admittedly well developed skill, but not unique or special in the least, but since you are clearly a soccer novice you mistakenly believe that it is and that it further evidences an elite level of soccer ability, which it does not, by itself. Great juggling ability is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for being an elite level player. After you've been around the game a little longer and not made light-headed by all the praise you receive from other parents and her coaches, you'll realize this. Good luck to her--she's going to need it with you around.

The issue for these parents is that they are in Oregon so their kid's juggling seems special. Now if they were in California, Texas, Florida, New York they would realize lots of kids can do that and no one thinks anything of it.

Another key, and perhaps most important attribute for an elite athletes success is coachability. This involves the ability to listen to criticism, analyze it, take away what is helpful, and always be open for input. Oftentimes brilliant coaching comes in the most unexpected packages.

If your child follows in your example they may still be successful, but they will spend their life complaining that "this person can't tell me..." or "that person doesn't know what they are talking about". If you speak with anyone who has reached a true elite status, they will have countless stories of learning from people they never expected to learn from.

For them to reach their apex there will be failures (a failure often just shows someone pushed too far beyond their comfort zone), the key is again to bounce back and keep growing.

Good luck, remember your attitude sets an example for your child.

That is a great post. Hopefully their DD takes feedback and anything other than high praise better than her parents. If so, she may have a very bright soccer player. Here's hoping we hear about her again in the future.

There's a 7 year old kid here in Cali who can hit something like 2,000 juggles. Its no big deal to his dad no video of it. he just yells at him for poorly weighted balls into space. just differences in where you are and understanding.

A Dad made a video of his daughter juggling ... NOTHING MORE!
It's you idiots that are analyzing this thing every which way. LET IT GO!
A fun video of a 12 year old girl who has a lot going for her.
                                I think it's great!
