Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe article is a little misleading, as at least 3 of the players listed are seniors, and an additional player mentioned is a GK. So starters aren’t really being “shown the door”. Sounds like JB has some issues with the staff? Can’t speak to the other two players mentioned.

Travel is certainly more expensive these days with conference games involving plane travel, but the Men's program - for a long, long time - was revenue generating when they played in Big East. Those days are over. When you have to fly the entire swim team to Houston, SMU, etc it adds up fast, but the soccer program should survive.
What they need to do is get rid of Ray Reid who is antagonistic to everyone except his wallet. He does nothing off field to facilitate growth or even 1/20th of what Morrone did to build good will, community relations, raise money or visibility.
Get someone that cares about UConn and the program will thrive again. Get back to the big east and make football independant. Ray Reid and This AD have to get the heave ho

You can't ever hope to cover pay for the coaches, travel, uniforms, insurance, support staff, trainers, field maintenance ..... by charging $2-3 (less than that on average when giving so many tickets to youth soccer programs) .... sorry, you just will never break even with a couple thousand fans, mostly students and the rest cheap tickets.
Total loss these days. Fix the conference problem. Make football independent and go back to Big east.
