Don't see Lutz merging with anyone, at least until MC's kid is done playing. A WC and GTBFC merge makes a ton of sense, from a numbers and location standpoint, so it prob won't happen. If it did, they could become players in the TB market.

Someone needs to break out of this mess and establish a club that can play in the CDL, or other top leagues, not just one or two teams from a club but teams from all age groups.
A merger in not in the near or even foreseable future so we can all drop that talk. CDL is no better than USA so get over that one. If CDL would have stuck to it's original premise I would have said yes CDL is better but since there are some really crappy teams in there mixed with some good teams they are no better or worse than USA. Though they both serve a niche in the soccer community and it's needs to be there. Not everyone is going to make the State Cup final 16 and be accepted to the FSPL (generally speaking) or the Final Four of State Cup and possibly play in R3PL.

The only way any of these Clubs (WC, GTBFC or Lutz) are going to grow and keep players at the older age groups is to expand the number of fields they currently have, continue and grow their Academy programs and grow their recreaction programs. Then you will see players staying and even some other players outside moving to the Clubs in the South Pasco area. Players have options in the Tampa Bay area so they can pick and choose were they want to play. Mergering is not going to happen for the many reasons stated in the previous 10,000 posts.

Small club has a top 10 in state A team and B team in same age group. They train together at beginning of season. Parents complain to ED/DOC that having the B team players at practice is bringing down the level of training. ED/DOC does not allow A and B to train together and can only scrimmage once a week. A team trains 4 days B team 2 days. Result B team falls apart. Some of the better B team players get on expanded A team roster for State Cup but do not get much Playing time. All leave for another local club at end of season. Because of success of A team many new faces come to tryouts so bench is reloaded. Typical revolving door at small clubs with only one or two good teams.

              Pasco

Funny (sad) how GTB and WCSC involuntarily trade players each year. WCSC had a nice U11 girls team last year, now that have no team and GTB is loaded. GTB U16 Boys B team fell apart, now many of the boys at WCSC. GTB U16 Girls B team fell apart, many of the girls went to WCSC who I think now has two teams. Seems like there is a better way.

sounds like sour grapes, like you're ticked you were on B team and couldn't move up to A team, so you took your marbles and went to the other local club. Oh, and good luck with that!

Yes, by merging. Problem is you will always have parents who think their kid should be the star of the A team, even though the kid can't play. Then they move to another club's lower-level A team when assigned to the B team at the first club.

no sour grapes. it has happend at WP, Lutz, WC, TPA Chargers(Fusion), Spirit over the past few years. It is just small club syndrome.

Didn't strike me as sour grapes. I think the challenge for a lot of clubs is to build the B team's level of play and you can't do that with just two practices a week if the club is committed to four days for the A team. I don't think they necessarily had to train together (unless they shared the coach), but if parents understood the B team would be playing at a much higher caliber by the season's end (if all the training paid off) then there might not have been the off season departures.

but the B team players had the same option as the A team, pay extra for the extra days. The entire A team did, not so much for the B team players

Even the big clubs rarely have a B team that is competitive at the state level. Just too hard to put together with the right coaching. Cant think of any

The biggest issue comes when a player on the A team should be dropped to the B team. It is the nature of sports. There is always someone out there looking to take your spot.
This can be resolved with a clear coaching curriculum and a player assessment system. The club can document all aspects of the game for each player. Point out areas that need improvement and recommend drills to improve the weak areas.
It is hard to improve because you can not watch yourself play. Your coach should be pointing out the areas you excel and areas that need improvement. Have yet to see that happen.

not an option for the A team players.

TBU has been successful at this in the past, but I don't know about recently. I think the kids that are now U-18 sent two teams past the second round of state cup at either U-13 or U-14. Three years ago, on the U-18 boys side, the second team advanced further than the top team in State Cup play. But, by an large, you are correct. A teams play state cup and B teams play region cup at a lot of clubs.
