Mens football and basketball across the board in USA are only sports that typically make money. Wouldn't be fair at all if schools only funded those sports.
Women’s soccer incredible funding at the collegiate level is simply a trickle down effect of schools trying to implement Title IX guidelines which are very specific yet, at same time very vague. The trickle down effect of these university funding choices has created the most convuluted under belly of club soccer shenanigans and schemes. Evidenced in the pay to travel model that infects the girls club soccer landscape to the point of absurdity. The end user is paying thousands just to have a chance of little scholarship money while never changing their final destination.

How much monies are dumped into Women’s Soccer vs Men’s Soccer at the collegiate level is mind blowing.

If we were to act like the rest of the civilized planet universities would not be married to revenue producing & non revenue sports. But, this is America....

Your argument is clouded by your sensitivity to your cause. Tell your son to play another sport or just work harder on academics. Life isn't fair and Boys soccer will not draw big enough crowds on College campuses to pay for itself. Men's Football and Basketball does and the girls deserve the equivalent opportunity to play a sport. Simple as that. (Note: Womens soccer draws better on College campuses then Mens Soccer)

The rest of the world is wrong and the USA is right; as is usual.

        I disagree

Define contributor? Sports reside on some college campuses because the tuition dollars of the athletes far offset the cost of the sport and make it profitable. The D3 schools in our area emulate that, basically a very expense club sport.

LOL, the numbers between men and womens attendance are pretty similar. Soccer guys need to back away from this subject. Football, Basketball, ( in some places even baseball) draw crowds, the rest of the college sports are usually not revenue plus situations. Not even sure ur argument anymore. This was a title 9 thing, now your arguing relevance? Not sure?

I read 11K show up in So. Cal for mens soccer games in college.
Didn't see any womens games that drew similar figures and the notion that womens soccer outdraws men was a complete fabrication on the forum.
Womens college soccer is solely a title ix 'thing always has been perhaps always will be.

It’s female Soccer.
Listen I am going to say this slowly so your thick Timbers dad/coach brain can get it. Boys should not play soccer. In this country it is a sport for girls. Our men stink. We are clearly 4th or 5th class in the world in the men's realm so let's stop talking down on the females. If you recall, they are the ones that bring home the trophies. Let the boys play football, basketball, baseball and track- stuff they are actually good at.

Continually tearing down the girls because they don't play at the same pace or with the same aggression as the boys is ridiculous. Listen a-hole that is true in all of sports. Women compete against women. They don't compete against men. And just because you can't compete against other men it's like you get off comparing your version of the game to the womens. Smh. Girls got next.

Women’s Soccer is just becoming a thing for the rest of the world, as such they (countries that allow women’s sports) have closed the gap on the US athletic Girls, with better technique, training & tactics. But, with such a low ceiling of athleticism in the Women’s game, Americans that are faster, stronger & quicker can simply run past the majority of the plodders put out by neophyte 3rd world teams. See CONCACAF results and highlights sprinters vs race walkers. It’s not really anything to do with the game of Soccer.

Women’s Basketball suffers the same comparison as Women’s Soccer do with the genuine article, the Male version. It’s not like Women played the sport first and then the Men decided they should try it. It’s the complete opposite.

Deal with this reality, appreciate both genders playing it and understand the Men have a world wide fan base for Basketball and Soccer (Football) and the women can enjoy playing women without any fanfare or following in the sportsworld.

I think this will help, instead of calling it Women's or Girls Soccer, the activity should be re-branded to add some intrigue and hence forth be named 'UnderWater Soccer'.
