So you bet you know who it is but you really have no clue. Got it.

CFC always tried to steer my kid to CT Select instead of Brazil CT because of cronyism.

Huh??? There are a handful of coaches at Yankee because they have one team per age group. Have you checked the FSA website lately. Keep scrolling down so you don't miss anyone.

Also, why would you think this would be illegal. Look up the definition of the word, "legal," too.

Leave the team if you don't like the coach. There. Problem solved.

The proper word to use here would be "ethical".

                  Just sayin'.....

RR @ YU has had the same players forever, from u little now into high school. That's not good for player development.

The company we have been using for the past couple of years is not a club, which means they present no conflict whatsoever. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is this even legal and/or moral? What should we do? We are really torn by all this as her off season experience with this outside group has had a great impact on her development.
Many CFC coaches run side "soccer training" businesses and they push these programs on their players constantly. Clearly a conflict of interest. But the parents are so desperate to keep their kids in good standing with the coach, that they all line up with their checkbooks for these "special" extra training opportunities. The coaches are clearly taking advantage of the insecurity of the parents and are laughing all the way to the bank. CFC management turns a blind eye to this gravy train.

When parents/players look elsewhere for private training or fun summer programs, the CFC coaches get upset because they feel the other programs reaching into their pockets.

4 teams don't need that many coaches

A CFC coaching job sounds like a license to pick the pockets of all of these rich, insecure Fairfield County parents who want to 'buy' little Mia's way onto the top teams at CFC. Complete money grab!....coaches stand ready to cash your check!

                          This is just plain wrong.

At the top of the "pyramid" there are two costs of admission....talent and the ability to write the check. But the check alone won't cut it.

CFC grabs the top kids on the ECNL teams at U15 and above. There may be occasional politics but its mainly above board and decided on talent.

As far as summers go, my kids have played for years and there have been different versions of the Summer Select over the years. As far as we are concerned, we've always considered summer to be "our' time. if they wanted to go to camps or play on a local summer team that's our business.

This unfortunately sums up the state of youth soccer in our country.
