Is this even legal (or moral)?

My daughter plays for a CFC branch and her coach has clearly stated that his players are forbidden and must refrain from using outside (supplemental) training services during the off season. The company we have been using for the past couple of years is not a club, which means they present no conflict whatsoever. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is this even legal and/or moral? What should we do? We are really torn by all this as her off season experience with this outside group has had a great impact on her development.

you are off to a bad start if you are paying for extra training and your kid is on a branch team

Ignore him. There are no such restrictions unless it is specified in your contract (which, I'm sure it's not). You can do whatever you chose. He's trying wave his dik around. Some clubs will try to put pressure on you if you're dual rostered or they want you to do their extra programs. But really only DA has specific rules about outside training.

In addition, if you care about your kid's development seek out other clubs. It won't happen at a CFC branch, which is why you're doing supplemental work.

First off, his kid could be 9 years old. A CFC branch is fine if that’s the case. Also I question the validity of the post altogether.

Look up the definition of "moral."

Also, why would you think this would be illegal. Look up the definition of the word, "legal," too.

Leave the team if you don't like the coach. There. Problem solved.

It's TS so who knows. For sure some coaches do press their own "private training" to line their own pockets.

Sometimes it might be the only or best option that's convenient. Or they're staying with it to hopefully make CFCU (and it has been shown many times that they don't take many outsiders). Or, some parents don't have a clue / have money to burn. Whatever the case a coach can't tell you what you can or cannot do outside the club.

Unless your kid is at Oakwood, in which case, we own you (better players, please ignore this and do as you please, it's just for this kids we need checks from to pay for your soccer and trips). Please see our winter and summer training catalog though as we certainly have any clinic that anyone could ever want or need and you can help subsidize US Men's soccer at the same time. If we raise enough money by May, we may end up painting the inside of the dump. $700 week-long camps this summer at Wesleyan are filling up fast, please sign up ASAP.

                          Legal??? Moral??

This Trumpmerica 2018, such constructs are no longer necessary!

Deny everything. Give him a funny nickname. Gaslight him. Tell him you have already covered your denial "extensively". Shoot the messenger.

tell them to go sit and spin. The club has their player card which means that the kid cannot play for another club from Fall to end of Spring, but they can supplement the training anywhere they want during that period, and during the summer they can do whatever you GD please. Those effers don't even need to know what you're doing outside of club, eff them.
