Didn’t see anything negative about the woman in the post, only the state and school. Try and calm down in 2018... you will live longer

MR to me is a curious hire moving forward. The coach retired so it didn't leave the bad taste of the inevitable firing that would of occurred over the next couple of years. MR was involved in the downward spiral of talent and her elevation to head coach will not improve her judgement.
Having control will improve her focus. Responsibility will do that. I'm excited to see UConn transition from the direct old school soccer they have been featuring into the modern era. It will take a few good classes of better skilled players, and more intelligent players. Fingers crossed MR upgrades the play to match the excellent facilities, fan and administrative support.

All starts with a intelligent coaching staff that she needs to put together

No CFC applied for the job. Driscoll turned it down.

Yet she has no experience actually "coaching" a team. Normally a hire for a bigger program like UCONN would be lower level D1 head coach or high D3 HC. She is well liked, where as LT was not, so that may help seal the deal with getting more talent. If she can land some more top players from NE and Atlantic states, that alone would help. But it's still UCONN - good state school, but it's competing against so many top academic schools from Boston to DC.

They are no longer a big time soccer program. They will not get back to the glory days for a very long time or at least until they get out of the AAC. No girls are excited to play Tulsa. East Carolina. Houston etc. the league is bad. So that is the best hire UCONN could expect.

League competition is over-rated. really doesn't matter much, provided they schedule a few top teams, as they usually do. and USF, UCF aren't walk-overs. LT checked out for practices and oversight of the players. Sure. But he set the style of play and game tactics. And he always had his favorite players as well as his scapegoats. Just sit behind the bench for a half and it's clear. Plenty of room for improvement in the UConn program, contrary to what the naysayers are posting.

I think he would be good. Works hard. Has contacts. Definitely would help IMO.

I hope you are right, but it is still surprising that they could not have done better and brought in a coach with more coaching experience.
