There are not enough players with the talent, interest, and very critically, the budget (time and money as the travel is expensive and time consuming), to create lots of very competitive teams for all these leagues. It is what is it. Find the best situation you can for your player and enjoy the sport.

GDA is just another league looking to usurp the existing leagues as the top money maker.

also games are poorly scheduled - look at this u16 team as an example - they play OW and LISC twice in the fall. They make two trips to MA in just under a month to play two different MA teams. ECNL would have done them back-to-back same weekend. Yes it's a tougher schedule for the players to play, but much easier on families with all the travel and expense. It's things like that that will be a turn off.

Shouldnt a real DA, that is built around the national team, be a residency program where the point is less games and more training? Even if they had just a couple of regional residencies where they pulled the top players and they played internally but at the very highest level. The kids who make NTs out of it are well served and the other kids will get looks for college simply because having made the DA by default means they're a real elite player. Having it be a league to usurp ECNL doesnt really sound like a "DA" to me.

And in your experience, how many players in your daughters age have you seen that meet your criteria?

Who would they play? DAP is large and water down in order for the clubs to have regional teams to play. This allows for reasonable travel and expenses
There are a lot of Washington Generals clubs out there to give the legit clubs game fodder

But thus far I don't think the rollout is going quite as smoothly as they had hoped. Certainly plenty of top players chose to stay put and not move over. Besides the fact that many older players are already recruited, some of the clubs chosen aren't good and certainly don't always have top coaching. Maybe GDA wins in the end but it's not going to be a quick and easy path there for them. And ECNL will still survive as a strong second league. GDA can't being to fill all the college roster posts out there just like ECNL can't now.
