As a result of interest from several girls U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs within the East Conference, eight Girls DA clubs in the US Youth Soccer East Region have gotten together to form the 16U US Youth Soccer National League Atlantic Development Player EDP Conference. This conference gives these clubs a chance to participate in a competition with parallel scheduling to the DA that will culminate with a playoff and a chance to participate in the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series.

The following U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs have committed to playing in this conference for 2018-19:
    •Arlington Soccer Association
    •Cedar Stars Academy – Monmouth
    •FC Fury
    •FC Virginia
    •Oakwood Soccer Club
    •PA Classics
•Washington Spirit Academy - Baltimore Armour
    •Washington Spirit Academy - Virginia

Why is Alby (Fury) doing this when they have ECNL? Just have the kids play ECNL.

Rumor is that Alby is losing ECNL, and will be announced when the season is over.

The above makes no sense as they are having ECNL tryouts. A rumor = “rumor”

BS. The tryouts do not mention ECNL.

No opinion Tex but fact. That is a B league for players that don't make the move to two-year combined U16/17 teams (03's this year). It's similar to "pre-academy" teams some BDA clubs run. Big risk because you are hoping you'll make the cut the next year, and not all will. Some clubs put those teams into the top EDP brackets - far more sane travel. This is DA clubs only but they aren't DA teams. It has nothing to do with USSF. Travel is absurd.

Also, who will fill the roster out on these teams? It won't be ECNL or even NPL level players.

Is it safe to assume that LISC is not operating next year? They have not updated their website, and there are no trials nor ID clinics published since February.

What have they told the current players?

Or is there some behind the scenes hail mary plan being concocted?

In any case, what a mess!

                    Finally the DA is listening

Interesting article, and certainly seems like we are guinea pigs while USSF figures out the right formula and structure.

The open weekends being scheduled is probably more a function of the fact that divisions will have fewer teams with all the defections.

That was excellent. Thank you. These two leagues NEED to work together as US Soccer HAS to swallow their arrogance.

And what teams will they play on open weekends? USSF would never let DA teams play non DA teams. A loss would shatter the illusion DA is superior to other leagues. In the fall ECNL and NPL isn't really running and in the spring they have no free weekends to play even if USSF did allow it. USSF has NO PLAN to make NE better.

Guinea pigs, suckers, pick your adjective

"Hickey says teams will have “open weekends” in the schedule in which they can schedule games against comparable opposition."

USSF Girls’ DA director Miriam Hickey is in fact saying USSF will allow DA teams to play non DA teams.

Good. There are good teams in DA and non DA leagues and they can play locally. From a soccer parent's perspective that is progress. No wasted gas, mileage, or hotel.

The culture in the US revolves so much around organized games that it becomes a revelation when someone essentially says you can scrimmage when you dont have a game.

The development of soccer players should be something that expert are doing. It is not following some mandate laid out by mandarins.

we really do over complicate this.
