Don't kid yourself... There's absolutely boredom at a boarding school as they are there 24/7. They are also given more than one shot especially if daddy is rich

It's also much easier to hide "scandals" in the more insular and smaller environment of a prep school. Every school has drug and alcohol usage; not one is immune prep, public, private. But severity varies widely school to school and also how effectively the administration deals with it.

I don't agree with the idea that there's a lot of boredom at top prep schools. They keep the kids busy! Most kids have to have excellent time management skills to survive, there isn't huge quantities of free time to get the work done, let alone have nothing to do. On the other hand if a kid wants to be "bad" they will find a way.

There is no free time difference after school, and public school kids on track for prestigious college have just as much homework. Had a son in ISL and daughter in public. D had heavier workload. She also chose to work harder. There are "bad influences" in any HS but the public ones are obvious.
