Originally posted by Unregistered View PostAny recaps from this game? Congrats to FC btw.
FC drew even in the first couple of minutes of the 2nd half when a shot from the 18 yd hit the crossbar and came down just a couple of yards from the goal line. #14 from FC was first to react netting an easy header while the keeper was on the ground after spreading all out in effort to stop the first shot. Now 1-1, FC seemed to dominate possession much of the next 30 minutes. Washington's keeper had a great game and saved probably about 10 shots in the 2nd half. Although they lost, I would say he was the MVP of the match by far. He could only stop so many though and in about the 70th minute, #19 from FC broke away from the pack with the ball down the right sideline and #1 (goalkeeper with soft cast) made a run up the middle. With both #19 & #1 behind Washington's backline, the cross came in and the goalkeeper scored a goal. 2-1 FC.
The last 10 minutes it appeared that FC though that they had the game won and looked very slow and sloppy just like they did in the 1st half. Washington had some chances in the final 10 minutes, but just couldn't net another goal. Perhaps if the game were 90 minutes they would've tied it.

The right back for FC was pushed way up out of position and when their center back (ex TA) made a challenge and lost it was 1v1 with the keeper (FC's backup. the #1 keeper played on the field in a soft cast). The first half did not see many shots on goal from either team, but the ball spent more time on the Timbers attacking end.

You are hereby yellow-carded for whining about missing players at a game.

On the other side FCP was missing 3 starters and one of their better players suffered an injury requiring the backup keeper to play striker.
But let's live in What If Land.

Washington Timbers are a good club. They generally do things the right way, even when it costs them games. But God, some of their parents are completely off their meds.
