Youth soccer clubs don't scale well, hard to get good coaching talent across so many teams...unless you assume that a british accent = good coaching

The athleticism and quality of play is one thing. Traveling to places like Florida and California for showcases on their own(without helicopter parents) demonstrates independence that coaches need when recruits show up on campus. DA intills a bit of independence and demonstrates grit and commitment to task to coaches and admissions.

There is a ton of money in that market. And at the end of the day, why not. A kid gets to play a sport they love, even though they aren't that good at. Nothing wrong with that.

Our experience with GPS was awful. Too many players on roster, most of whom were no good. Different coach every couple weeks and half of them were awful. Mostly foreign coaches on visa. We had one that screamed nonsense like “what are you doing?!” or “how did that work for you?!” throughout the game. We even had one who didn’t show up for a game. If it hadn’t been for one of the parents who had his coaching license to fill in, we would have forfeited after driving over an hour to the game. We thought it was just our team until talking to parents of other GPS teams who had similar experiences. We got out and would advise others to steer clear of GPS.
