If they are adding NPL teams to GDA and there are already some teams that went from NPL to GDA, then isn't GDA the new NPL? And how does this even represent what GDA is supposed to be? I am the parent of a GDA player and I believe that in theory the GDA is a great idea but in reality not so much.

Exactly. In the end US Soccer will find a way to eliminate or at least reduce their competition. This is what they actually do well. They understand the business side and how to generate significant revenue. It may not create the greatest players (although we are seeing a few here and there now) but when it comes to market share and leveraging their position for financial benefit they are pretty sharp (this is not necessarily a compliment, btw).

lol good luck with that. This isn't like when BDA rolled out, with very little substantive competition. GDA had a very right window during which they needed to get it right, execute it flawlessly. That hasn't happened. Families are less willing "to give GDA time" when the recruiting window for their kids is short (and has gotten shorter with NCAA rule changes). GDA also didn't have free to play teams, pro club support or a pro path that girls cared about. USSF also underestimated the importance of girls playing in HS and how their only focus is playing in college. GDA isn't going to get stronger over time with the better clubs are leaving, weaker clubs are joining.
You did nail it with finances - the USSF elected in year is a former Goldman Sachs investment banker who never played soccer. It's about the Benjamins, not soccer.
not only GDA but ECNL, the fact is there is not enough talent on LI to support this. There should be 1 ECNL and 1 GDA. all these teams are completely diluted. you should be putting the best of the best out there.
Hahaha, you're funny. Its ironically true that most go the GDA is former NPL clubs. ECNL has asked their member clubs to chose, and they're not picking the highway...

2 ECNL clubs is fine, 1 based in Nassau & 1 based in Suffolk is what should've been from the beginning.
3 GDA offerings, all within a 15 mile distance, is a complete disaster...especially the Alby/Fury situation. If they got rid of one of them and consolidated the top players, they'd be pretty strong-and not just in their crappy conference, regionally & possibly nationally. LISC is just a joke and will continue to be, one team barely at .500, the other getting decimated on a weekly basis and no hope coming down the pipeline...

They did initially and then some gave back their ECNL badges and are still doing well in GDA; FC VA, Breakers to name a few.

You had me at regionally, hahaha, when you got to nationally I fell over, thanks for the laugh.

his election has nothing to do with it. Girls soccer has been left to the women. Ellis and Heinrichs. it is/was up to them to carry this thing forward and so far they have failed. The problem is there is no leadership now at all. Not even bad leadership

Why? its a business. As long as there is demand, supply will fill it. As the demand wanes, you will see consolidation. This may be happening
