Never ever even a chance that would happen. She’s tied to select and really doesn’t need to club hop.

Is SSS trying to hide the fact that they got into the GDA? No announcement of any of their social media or their website. So strange

The y want to keep all their players which will never happen. Girls are very upset about the high school stuff and will be leaving for Stars and Scorpions. Another bad move by a club just to get into a league.

If the club is worried it's the wrong move then it's probably the wrong move. It's telling that they're not making a splash over this. The good news is they could back out of it,. It's still early enough to do so. Really they could wait until May when offers typically are flying about for the various leagues.

A club that's making this move should be all in - that includes their own press release or at least a social media blast. More importantly there needs to be meetings with current and prospective families about what is going to happen. Of course, USSF is anxious to have any news so they may have jumped in without telling clubs when the announcement was going live.

What was SSS supposed to do? ECNL Mafia won't let them in, better to hoard players on existing teams than to let it expand. That's pride fvckin' witchooo....

Can't stay in NPL, that's now trashed.

It’s such a shame too, because the NPL is the best regional league around, and if we could blow it all up and start over, it would be the league best fit to take all our local top teams and create a strong regional league with the national playoff format, without all the ridiculous travel to blowout teams. Could you imagine if NEFC, Scorps, SSS, Stars, GPS, Seacoast, CFC, FSA ... had their top 1 or 2 teams in one NPL league? New England travel only, strong competition across the board, and just throw in a few big showcases to get out of the area, and voilà we have fixed the splintering of our youth soccer league/talent in this area.

Did they try again? Seems like ECNL would be more than happy to take on more solid clubs rather than have them go to DA. Both leagues are just fighting over market share at this point.

I agree NPL has gone to way downhill with all these changes, as was predicted. But that genie is out of the bottle unfortunately.

It is clear Stars brass care more about their market share and marketing bottom
line than ever let two more quality clubs (NEFC and SSS) into the league. Anyone who believe youth soccer is focused foremost on the players, I have a bridge to sell you.

hell I don't know. But, what I do know is if ECNL weren't too concerned with putting in multiple teams under the club because it best lines their own pockets vs. expanding it, there would be no GDA teams in New England.

Not a huge Stars fan but they tried DA. They marketed heavily to get kids for DA and then it sucked. So what do they do with all those kids? I actually think they hope it worked. Then they could be the go to club for everything. As far as expanding, in order for ECNL to remain what it is, there has to be a sense of exclusivity. That is how they draw the best kids. Otherwise, we should just have one big NEP. Any kid who wants to play ECNL is free to go tryout at Stars or Scorps. Players are not limited or kept out of ECNL. If you are looking for convenience, then the ECNL is not for you. Most kids on those teams have quite the commute. Any they are lucky to live here in New England!

Stars didn't market heavily for DA. They divided the talent. They were not competitive as a result. JD, being on the ECNL Board, could never have gone all in with the DA. Outside of our region the GDA was not bad with the top level teams.
In our region, the teams with the exception of NEFC (Breakers last year), Oakwood (a few good teams) and NYCFC (a few of their teams were very good last year), weren't very good. Fury/Albertson's wasn't bad and is much better this year.
