    You are all being scammed

    Parents,

Take a good look at your club. These questions should be asked.
    1. Does the DOC implement a structured plan?
    2. Do they relate it to the coaching staff?
    3. Is there an emphasis at your club on development?
    4. Are the players improving?
    5. Are coached being held accountable?

We have an organization (OYSA) that does not believe in small sided soccer (4v4) and they do not communicate to DOCs about development. We have DOC's that do not care about development. They only care about lining their pockets. This breeds lazy, uneducated coaches which trickles down to the players. It's no wonder Oregon is one of the worst states in the country when it comes to soccer. Take a look when you are over a Delta Park on Sundays. Not a DOC in sight to monitor how the little ones are doing. Parents should stand up and protest the BS they are paying for. It is unacceptable. The clubs and OYSA get away with it because the majority of parents do not understand soccer development.

Isn't the DOCs job to coach the two best teams in the club and to shower those two teams with golden benefits, while ignoring the rest of the players in the club?

      4v4?

For u8s, sure. For older age groups, that's called "futsal".

The rest of this is your standard boilerplate YOUTH SOCCER SUX rant.

You got it all wrong. the DOCs job is to find out which of his club's teams is the best (by results) and then come in the last month of the season and coach them to a respectable State Cup finish. Not the championship, mind you, just get them out of the group stage. That way parents will know they are a good coach. "Just look at how he can make gold out of gold!"

Spot on, wish I could afford to take my kid to Portland , unfortunately my Dc Is not our only and it's not plausible to do so we settle for what we have here in Salem, but other than the 1-2 all star teams that get speacial treatment and that all the rest of the teams bend over backwards to accommodate the kids pretty much get screwed over here.

There is absolutely no accountability of coaches or DOCs in the state of Oregon. This has been our experience in Oregon. They are accountable to no one. Oregon soccer is run by politics, not as a good, reputable business. if you complain, be very careful because you will be blackballed in Oregon even if your complaints are completely legitimate. In the real world of business, you sell a product of service, focus on the customer experience, and make product improvements to get better. Here, Oregon clubs do not care about the customer experience, and they do not have to make improvements. They can continue to enable the behavior of bad coaches. The board protects them and enables this behavior because their children play for these coaches. Conflict of interest. Absolutely unbelievable what these clubs get away with. Only in Oregon.

You must be a Beaverton dad (Intel?). You have no idea what my player gets out of club soccer. We do understand that the team/ coach/ club, is not the end all of soccer or life. The pursuit of greatness and competition and loyalty are great character traits to develop.

You secretly believe your kid will make it...That's why you morons pay for extra training, pay $300 for boots, and wake up at 5am for a completely unimportant soccer game between two lousy teams coached by poverty level coaches posing as soccer gurus....Don't kid yourself...It it was just for fun or the game you'd be content with Rec...But your not...And that's àll I need to know...Don't worry as soon as the hit HS they will ask to quit and distance themselves from you overbearing helicopter mommy's as fast as they can text you STFU.... PYRAMID SCAM. WAKE UP.

                        Why mathematics and science?

Not sure if you have it right either.

There are plenty of tutoring, SAT prep, Saturday Academy, etc... places in the area that are just as happy to suck up your money to help you get ahead in mathematics and science.

Believe it or not, Math and Science are not the answer to health, wealth, and happiness.

And you secretly wish for your kid to get the perfect SAT? He or she may just do it, but will end up working for my kid because your kid will have no social skills and know nothing about teamwork. His only memory will be of his parents taking him to Brainchild every evening to learn more math and science.

Helicopter mommy can come in all forms and not just soccer mommies. The STFU text will come when your child is in 11th grade and you are still forcing them to go to summer school.

Says the dumb mommy with a HS diploma or a BS in Hospitality management and never held a real job in her life. Club soccer is a scam and you all know it down deep. But please, keep on fooling yourself and spend more of your husbands hard earned money on more flighty frivolity you call "experience" or "socialization" or "life lessons" or some other bull crap catch word. Grow up...But first.... WAKE UP.

After years in club soccer, I'd never repeat the mess, overproduces, and utter lack of quality that is the Oregon club soccer experience. So much in the world to see, experience, and enjoy. It is a lie meant to milk you of that big check right after tryouts...Oh, and to provide some free vacation time for the Coach and his / her SO under the BS story of "tournament". Please. Such collective neediness these Parents are. Love me, pick me, allow me the honor of spending thousands on nothing. Dolts.
