    Regional Development School (RDS)

    http://www.soccerwire.com/news/clubs...ll-time-teams/

Interesting expansion. Article doesn't say specifically where they new locations will be. Only gives the regions. Anyone know?

In efforts to further expand the player development platform, the new RDS regional teams will be based in three key geographic regions, to ensure elite youth players from the entire Metro area will have access to what promises to be some of the most competitive pre-academy teams in the nation.

With one region spanning New Jersey and all points west, one encompassing Westchester, Rockland, and all points north, and a third catering for NYC, Nassau county, all points east, these new teams will provide unrivalled coverage for New York Red Bulls’ flagship player development program.

Wow! Going all in and right in NYCFC's backyard.

This is about tagging as many kids as possible with the homegrown stamp so if any ever are capable of playing pro, even if developed by NYCFC or anyone else that can say they developed them and pay the league minimum which won't even allow you to buy a home in the NY area.

This is about money. The more RDS camps the more dollars made. RDS doesn't count for homegrown status. The player must have played for academy.

Homegrown players make way more than minimum salary and the salary doesn't count against the cap

RDS is a great program and red bulls is a class organization. Nycfc could learn a thing or two from them.

Son went few years back , coaches evaluation was spot on and true to this day. They liked him and gave him chance. All very well done.

Agree. Love how they teach good values along with good soccer skills.

NYCFC now has girls DA. Why do the Red Bulls not?

There are numerous options for GDA in Northern Jersey

There are only five MLS clubs with GDA

Only five MLS alone, but many NWSL teams who are affiliated with MLS clubs also. I think Red Bulls, if anything, missed a great marketing opportunity. Even if they have no professional women's team now, I could absolutely see them having one in near future, either in NY or NJ. They are so involved with Girls RDS already, it Would have made a lot of sense.

At the westchester RDS tryout yesterday there were like 90 kids there trying out. At most maybe 6 or 7 girls aging between 8 to 13 years old. Kinda seemed strange, like why even have the girls bother showing up.

Because they don't hesitate to put a qualified girl into the groups with the boys.

As a parent of both genders, and having a son that did many RDS events (for training, not because I thought he was DA material) I thought RB were missing out on a great opportunity in running separate girls programs. They have some but it's very limited. I imagine NYCFC has plans to jump into the untapped market.
