The players in the Girls’ Development Academy clubs will play exclusively within the Academy program and will not play in any outside competition, such as ODP or high school.” or Disney, Phoenix, Las Vegas, CASL, PDA, Jefferson Cup, .. Wait GDA teams are playing on Thanksgiving at Disney.

Maybe Disney waived the registration fees to recruit a few teams for its showcases bracket and to lure college coaches to stay around the main WWOS site where they will be playing.

Since there is not a lot of quality depth in girl's soccer it is not surprising that the level of play between GDA and non-GDA would be noticeable. By building GDA teams you are leaving the rest of the teams in an area significantly depleted. In South Florida there are probably 4 or 5 times as many boys playing travel than girls yet there are a similar number of DA teams (although the boys start at U12 and girls don't start until U14).

My daughter's ECNL team last year lost regularly to much younger top boys teams because of the speed of play and the willingness to pass. girls always seem to play the same game, long ball out of the back, or maybe a pass out of the back then it goes out wide and never comes back in. always the winger trying to take it all the way down the side and then if she can, bam off a big cross that no one can head in. rinse repeat. never getting the passes off quick enough and moving to provide lots of possession options. it's hard to watch girls play compared to boys, and I'm not biased, all I have is girls.
boys teams stretch the field but continue to pass it around until they've lost you. I don't know why girls play such a different game. The best girl's teams play a great possession game that holds up under pressure, and they also pressure very well. I saw a California team play this way at Disney once, maybe from arsenal? they were amazing. a mix of small and large players, and they just made it look so easy.
anybody seeing really good play being developed in Florida DA teams? seriously? I know its not happening at flames, (no offense flames I've just watched) but how about anywhere else? Orlando? Jacksonville?

play, play, rest, play
play, rest, play, play
GDA teams could start the night before the tournament will begin for the other teams or stay one day longer than the regular teams.

The GDA players have showcases like the Florida Showcase on Dec 9 and why would they spend all that money to enter into the Disney Showcase at Thanksgiving? The GDA teams could tempt the top D1 colleges to send a scout to Disney.
