    UCONN Women

Is this finally the end of Len? They finished the season 7-9-3 with a 3-1 loss to Memphis in the first round of the AAC Tournament today and won't be in the NCAA Tournament. He's not getting any younger and playing in the AAC is hurting recruiting. Why can't soccer play in the Big East like field hockey does?

The AAC is killing the Uconn athletic department across the board. At best it's a mid-major conference. You can already see the damage to the university, I can't imagine how bad it'll be in 10 years.

The conference doesn't help attract top national recruits. They go to ACC, PAC, Big 10. Schools with more cache and definitely better soccer. I know there's talk of UCONN trying to get into the ACC but only basketball could ever compete in the ACC without significant changes.

Having a mediocre record and the lawsuit aren't going to help moving forward. Players want winning programs even if it's a lower league. They also want to know their scholarship and spot won't be yanked for a minor offense

You can blame the politicians (Blumenthal) for single handily destroying the Big East. That was the draw in many sports. The money was with basketball not football. You cannot even find a UCONN bball game on mens or womens most of time unless its on CCTV or local programming. Used to be top dog on ESPN during the week and on weekends CBS among others. Stadium not on campus, only holds 40K. All you see is concrete there are so many empty seats. Played Missouri who not having a good year but a big team and no one was at the game. Mizzou at home 60K with a 2 - 5 record. No one is going to bring their team into the shxxxhole of hartford to play in front of 10 - 20K. Hence the money the other sports were getting is drying up as is the draw to get kids to come and play on the athletic teams.

Politicians had nothing to do with Big East demise. It was a basketball league in a world of football. Football drives college sports. UCONN was shut out of ACC twice
