How many in the US? Almost 50k. That is Trump. He should own it. He can’t, he is a coward. Just like the people that keep following him. How many Americans will die, because of Trump? People are dieing because of this clown. It is not Hillary, not Obama, it is Trump. Own it.

Trump in an Axios interview yesterday claimed" It's under control" and when the reporter said "But Mr. President 1000 people are dying each day" Trump responded "It is what it is"
When compared to South Korea (which had their first Covid case the same day the US did late January but has had under 500 deaths) Trump hinted SK is faking their numbers. Every time he talks he's cherry picked the data (well, his staff does).

Wow, talk about cherry-picking data. You do realize more people visit the US each year than the entire population of South Korea. We are over 6x larger in population. If SK had 330,000,000 million people, I’m pretty sure their numbers would be higher. Try comparing apples to apples before you look silly.

Ok, let's extrapolate the numbers so that we are comparing apples-to-apples. You want to bring population into the equation, as we should, so let's do that.

As of today, the population of the United States is 331,191,408
As of today, the population of South Korea is 51,269,185

These numbers are, of course, dynamic, so the numbers below are only going to be approximations but they'll be in the ball park and will illustrate how poorly the United States is doing with this disease.

        Cases in USA = 4,877,530
        Cases in S. Korea = 14,423

        Deaths USA = 159,410
        Deaths South Korea = 301

        Cases/1M population USA = 14,728
        Cases/1M population S. Korea = 281

        Deaths/1M population = 481
        Deaths/1M population = 281

Is this clear enough for you?

Also worth pointing out is that Trump will often trumpet about how the United States does more testing than any other country. The facts are that 17 other countries have tested more per 1M of population than the US has.

This country would not need to be where we are today if people had taken this a lot more seriously. Mask wearing was adopted way too late. The "leader" of this country discouraged mask wearing. His followers believed him. If people had not flocked to bars and restaurants, followed social distancing guidelines, worn masks, washed hands, and, in general, were more careful about what they were doing, little Johnny and Suzie would be playing soccer this fall and would be in the classroom. Instead, everyone believed the clowns in the oval office and in Tallahassee. You see where that has gotten us. There would have been no need to shut down if people weren't such idiots early on.

OP here - thanks to the poster above for demonstrating your complete lack of understanding of data and statistics. Put another way, if SK had the same case and death rate as the US they would have several thousand dead. Instead they have 300 and change.

I think you’d better check your numbers. Here’s what I mean by an apples to apples comparison:

            US population: 330,000,000 people
Combined countries of Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Spain, & Belgium = 336,000,000 people

            US Covid testing numbers: 60,000,000
            Combined countries listed: 42,800,000

            US death rate: 158,000+
            Combine countries listed 159,000+

            Death rates per 100,000
            Belgium 86
            Britain 70
            Spain 61
            Italy 58
            US 48
            France 45
            Germany 11

Now we get why you used South Korea. When stacked up against real numbers, the US isn’t as bad as the libtards want you to think. To top it off the US has tested 19,200,000 people than all those 6 countries combined. So to say the US has far more cases, is just misleading. Despite having more cases however, the US death rate is still lower as shown above. So maybe, just maybe we’re actually doing better than the MSM is reporting.

              Still Trump’s fault???

              https://www.theblaze.com/news/nyc-he...gns-rips-mayor

New York City health commissioner resigns, ripping Mayor Bill de Blasio on the way out

"I leave my post today with deep disappointment that during the most critical public health crisis in our lifetime, that the Health Department's incomparable disease control expertise was not used to the degree it could have been," Barbot wrote in her resignation letter. "Our experts are world renowned for their epidemiology, surveillance and response work. The city would be well served by having them at the strategic center of the response not in the background."

De Blasio took the responsibility for contact tracing away from the health department in May, and gave it to the public hospital system instead — despite the fact that the health department has been responsible for such efforts for decades.

In mid-March, right before most of the nation essentially shut down because of COVID-19, de Blasio encouraged people to continue going to restaurants and go about life normally as long as they aren't sick.
