Unskilled players with no tactical knowledge play as physical possible in an effort to make up for their deficiencies in the sport.

Couple that with coaches who know little about the game and how it should be played and a win at all cost attitude....this story should not surprise anyone. The fact that it made the news is surprising because it’s more common than you think.

The problem here is that, apparently, no one involved really gives a crap. Why wasn't the girl sent off after the first foul? Red card them and make them play short handed. That is the only way to address this type of play.

There were many fouls in video, likely both teams guilty. Agree a few cards prob slow this down.

What's even worse is that if both teams win their Region Quarterfinal game tomorrow night they will play again on Friday night! Imagine that!!!

If they face again it will be tame, refs will be tighter

One would hope so. But retaliation could be in store. Like say.....revenge is dish best served cold!

Sounds like how our daughter’s high school district playoffs went. Continual pushing in the back, players grabbing shirts, shoulders, and necks. The refs don’t see half of it or call it.

Playing a “hard physical style” will never make up for the lack of practice and skill development of the player because they put in too little time at younger ages. It’s sad and should not be encouraged. Those refs are complicent and facilitated the injuries. Take control and start sending girls off. Travesty.

The one player will deal with dental injuries for life.

Playing HS for a player with a real future in the sport is SO counterproductive. But hey...they made the news, so there’s that.

Okay, fine if you want to keep Mia wrapped in bubble wrap. Have you watched any D1 womens soccer games? No really, have you watched any D1 womens soccer games? H.S. soccer is a lot like college soccer as far as the physicallity. The girls that come out of ECNL/DA leagues where everything is called often have a hard time transitioning to the college game.

"Playing HS for a player with a real future in the sport is SO counterproductive." Not if your daughter is headed to a Tier 1, D1 program! And if you say my daugther is headed to the WNT where they calll everything, good luck with that!

                          Lolololol, ok.

Tell your daughter to keep fouling and knock some teeth out cause she sucks.

How stupid can you actually be? No really how stupid can you actually be? If this were the case why do 98% of D1 players come from DA and ECNL. The last I checked college coaches weren't trolling HS sidelines looking for untalented hacks.

The main problem is unqualified and inexperienced refs who are afraid of their own shadows, let alone producing a card. Any qualified ref can immediately spot a player with no interest in playing the ball but rather only going for the player. HS soccer does suck for exactly this reason. There is no upside for a talented player to risk injury where they are completely unprotected.

Unfortunately that is an accurate description of the girls DA in Florida.
