It is reaching more kids. Question to me is who ID's the players and how many eyes will they have on the players?

Not really following. MLS DA programs are free. Other than maybe FL, other DA programs are working hard to reduce costs. So how is this a money grab? No more or no less than other youth sports outside the free DA programs.

There is substantial evidence that talent identification (early selection) does not work. Resources should be allocated to talent development!

Big Country. Talent identification and roster selection are two different things. ID and put them into database and keep an eye on them. Early team selection doesn't mean they will make the senior team.

So true - boys are all over the map at that age. Also, they are one day sessions. Easier to look good on a given day. Let's see how you look day 3. Most importantly, having more kids doesn't do you much good if the scouts aren't good at their jobs to begin with.

they are paying for your kid to go to tryouts and paying for flights and hotel and all monies

Negativity here is just ridiculous. The new process is a nice improvement. Not any money from parents so scratching my head on that one. Yes, kids identified at this age are not always the ones identified later. But it's good that they keep track on a larger group.. overall a positive development.

This is too level head for TS.

The sky is falling. This is the beginning of the end of US soccer

I wish the article would have expanded on how exactly are they 'able to identify a higher number'. Reading the article this seems basically the same as what was called "US Soccer Training centers" with a new name.
Are they having twice as many events with DIFFERENT kids and scouts?
Are they going to twice as many locations as previous US soccer training centers to run these camps?

What exactly are they doing to "identify higher numbers"?
