Just so you know, the maximum amount of scholarships that a D1 Women's soccer team is allowed to offer is 14, so it is very rare that someone will receive a "full" athletic soccer scholarship. Actually, many D1 programs do not have 14 full scholarships, some have much less that needs to then be divided amongst the 25 or so people on the roster. As said in the past, that is why it is important to have the grades and test scores. Coaches will first work with the school to see how much money the player will receive from academic scholarships, grants, aid etc and after that they will determine, if any, how much athletic money they will give out to each player. If you have the grades and test scores, you become much more valuable to the coach as you are not saving/making him money to spend elsewhere. And this is first hand knowledge as we just went through this with our daughter, she is receiving about 70% of her tuition/room and board from academics, 20% from athletic and we are on the hook for the rest. While the academic portion of the package can only be changed if academic standards are not being met in college, the athletic portion can be adjusted up or down as per the coaches discretion. I am not sure how it works for men's soccer, but as a parent who just went through this process that is how it goes down.

Soccer talent is great to make the team, grades are great to cover the costs!
