    FC Bucks

Team is already picked. Team is full of backroom deals. All or none groups of girls. Tryouts is just for show. OP has right to be concerned about small group of parents running the team. The coach has a kid of the team which as someone pointed out is unheard of at the ecnl or da level.

Not true at all. It's a small soccer world. There are ECNL and GDA teams that relations on their teams.

I’m sure there are ecnl and Gda clubs out there with coaches with kids on the team. It is just very very rare and I’m willing to bet in those instances the coach is a highly licensed professional coach.

Like most teams there is a core group of 11-12 girls that are more or less picked before tryouts based on their performance in games. Every one of this core group is a superstar. They are the top players in the area. The best of the best. All likely D1 prospects. The coach will probably roster around 18 which leaves many open spots for other top players to join this core group.

Is it? Here in CT, many ECNL and DA teams have mommy and daddy coaches and the consumers are rightfully lighting up those coaches that cannot separate their job from being a good mommy or daddy. Their kids play the majority of the time, take most of the free kicks, and enjoy choice central positions on their respective teams (as do some of their closest friends!); many of whom are not capable of doing their job well and do not deserve these spots and the PT that comes with them. Find another team. There is no reason for you to pay a boatload of money to a team that does not know right from wrong.

It's worth a look. That is the CT poster's experience, may be different for you. Having core kids who may have been with the team already isn't unusual. It's called stability.

There is a core group of players. Some of them are good players. But not all of them. So while stability can be good, when you keep players that don't necessarily belong or aren't the best, you sacrifice the long term success of the team. The core group has made "back room" deals that either they all make it, or they will all leave and go somewhere else. If they leave, the team folds, because there aren't enough players to fill out the team.

                  ?

Why would you continue to stay at a club if you thought backdoor deals were made? And if you left the club why would you bash their club? No one out there is Karley Lloyd let kids be kids and play !

My kid plays for another local club. Never played for FC Bucks. We considered having her try out for this team because it is the only ECNL club in the area. Continental is the next closest but it is too far. As one of the other people said on here, the soccer world is a small world, and many of the issues that have surfaced on this thread are well known in the local soccer world. Kids should be kids and adults should let them play, which would should include no backroom deals, if that is what is happening here, and coaching by unqualified parents, both examples of adults trying to tip the scales and not let kids be kids.

In most cases, that might apply, but in this case, its a pretty expensive book to buy when all the reviews are saying it is not very good.

                          Tryouts aren’t expensive!

But don't buy the goods you see at tryouts. You will get bait-and-switch once you sign the agreement form and send in your first check.

This is where you are 100% wrong. It is FC Bucks. They would garner so much respect in Bucks County and surrounding area if they did the right thing and it got around. There are plenty of talented kids waiting to take those kids places that can do a better job. The problem is that many don't even bother to come out because they know many of these upper echelon teams have had their core together for a few years already and they can not be displaced with on-the-field efforts. Same story all of the world for every sport. Adults ruin it all ... let the kids play and judge them, objectively, on how they perform on the field. It should not be about anything else and to do so is so disingenuous to the kids, to the team, to the club, and to the sport!

You couldn't be more right. It is very similar to what is going on with these celebrities who felt they needed to scam the system to get their kids into college. When adults pull strings behind the scenes thinking they are helping their kids get ahead, all they are doing is creating helpless entitled kids who will struggle to succeed on their own when mommy and daddy aren't there to help.
