Milan Cup - Formerly Bandits Cup

Why do teams continue to play this tournament when Stars Cup and Aztecs Labor Day are the same weekend. Does it have any decent competition. What is the justification coaches and clubs use to 'sell' this to parents as a good tournament?

With the 150+ clubs in the new england area there is enough room for 6 labor day tournaments. There will be few higher level clubs at this tournament because the US system seems to think gotsoccer points matter. They will attend to win a likely championship and it points when they would be better off playing tougher teams and getting the bonus points by maybe beating one or two of them.

Championships wins parents and kids is the bottomline.

Our kids played in the Aztec tourny last year at the GU12 and BU14 level respectively and won easily. Both beating Aztec teams who were not very strong and both in the high bracket so unless all the other age groups in the Aztec tourney are stellar Im not sure what all the praise is about the quality of their teams. We are doing Stars this year for that reason.

Really? So you have kids who play for MPS and Western, because it was MPS U12 girls and Western U14 boys that won the top brackets of the Aztec tournament last year. The Aztec U14 boys were finalists, and Aztec didn't have a U12 girls team in the top of their U12 tournament - their top U12 girls team played bottom of the U13 division last year.

uhh, uhm, what I meant to say was, uh. Nice catch of some dumb chump ripping a tourney for his or her own jackassias reasons. People will stoop so low.

Aztecs Labor day and decent competition? Please. Both these tournaments suck and were second rated to Stars Cup. Now when MPS bought AC Milan , all MPS teams will be playing in GPS Milan Cup for years to come. Maybe except their top teams.
Justification - get ready for the fall season.

So is GPS Milan officially a "town" tournament going forward? It's lost some stature in recent years, right? Does selling as many team entry fees as possible really help their credibility? My guess is more clubs will back away in coming years.

Who has to sell anything? I like it because it's a pre-season tournament in a nice location. It's well run by an experienced group. Low drama and good for team building.

Agree, this is a joke of a tournament with no decent teams.

                          Milan Cup Cancelled?

No word on who's in this tournament or what the schedules will be with only 2.5 weeks before the kick off. I'm thinking that too few teams registered for this tournament and Milan is looking for a way out. Stars and Aztec announced weeks ago. Mum is the word with GPS Milan.

Is it too late to register for the Stars or Aztec tourneys?

                            Thinking as in guessing?

So next time NEFC runs a tournament and their schedule isn't posted until a week or two beforehand can I "think" that it's canceled too?

Some of you people are fricken idiots. It's a game, played by kids, and it's meant for them to have fun. Why is it that every time some group of kids take the field, some a-hole has to tear down someone else and what they are trying to do. It's a game, played by kids, meant to have fun. You all remember fun right? You were once a kid, right?
