We are talking about youth soccer. Timbers are grown up soccer. All youth soccer is going to fold in Oregon.

That would presume that the ECNL teams have all of the top talent. Ok, now that we've all had our hearty laugh for the day, let's get back to reality. Finding top talent on our ECNL teams is like searching for a virgin in a whore house.

Do you really want to take the advice of a nameless/faceless person posting here what your kid should be doing ?
You a correct that the bulk of ECNL players came from the OPL conversely the Academy was mostly from the TA except Tina's crew. I think the op has a legitimate question. We have for year asking for consolidation but I'm not sure that we thought through what happens to the balance of the league!

Not all the top talent, but most of it, particular at the H.S. ages. Exceptions were the WST copa / rage team whatever they were, that makes up the bulk of the current thorns and if it's expanded an age group down you will get Tina's crew. But other then a few individual outlier players, that's about it.

The future will look pretty bleak.

And you think HS is bad

For all the posters here who berate High Schools soccer you need to prepare yourselves for Metro area Club soccer to fall to that level or even below!

You complain about HS teams who on average have 5 or 6 quality club players to string passes together or make quality runs and or stops. News flash: the OPL and OYSA teams U16+ are not even going to have that many! Next year when the Thorns opens their 14/15 team its going to be the death knell for girls club soccer without massive consolidation.

Don't worry. The Thorns Academy will fold completely before they ever add another age group. They've already lost several players before they've even started to play.

Not sure why there is a Thorns academy. Instead of that, save the money and just have your current club team enter into FWRL. Same difference. Except T.E. doesn't get paid.

Too true. Although if you do that the Timbers might not let you "play up" a year in the OYSA league :)
